i want to buy a video card off a guy on the fs/t forums, but he doesn't have any refs. I understand he would be wary of sending out his stuff to a stranger so he suggested a COD. It sounds like a good solution, but i think i may have a slight problem. I live at a dorm, so all the mail goes to the mailroom, which is run by the people there. Will i be able to have special instructions? i don't think i can have the mailroom pay for me. any ideas on what i can do?

you are correct. paying before the box is opened is the COD policy of every major shipper.

you could ask the dorm what the policy is for COD items. or you could do the suggestion here for escrow.

COD is usually bad news for the seller. A bogus or cancelled note is often submitted to the carrier for payment. Buyer gets his product, seller gets nothing.
