I'll be a junior in December and I'm starting to think about scheduling for next year.

Here are the classes I will need to take:

MA3053 Found Of Math I (Prerequisite: MA 1723 [Calculus 2])
MA3163 Intro To Mod Algebra (Prerequisite: MA 3113 [Linear Algebra I])
MA3213 Math Writing (Prerequisites: MA 3163 [Intro to Mod Algebra])
MA4313 Numerical Anal I (Prerequisites: MA 3113 [Linear Algebra 1])
MA4633 Adv Calculus I (Prerequisite: MA 2743 [Calculus 4])
MA4643 Adv Calculus II (Prerequisite: MA 4633/6633 [Adv Calculus 1])

Then two more math classes, probably:

MA4933 Math Analysis I (Prerequisite: MA 4633/6633 [Adv Calculus 1])
MA4953 Elem Topology (Prerequisite: MA 4633/6633 [Adv Calculus 1])

Obviously some of these depend on others. However, the first five excluding MA3213 don't. Assuming that I also need two semesters of Spanish and a programming class, how would you schedule this? Would you take Advanced Calc in your Junior year? How many math classes should I take each semester?

I'm also thinking about minoring in physics, having dropped the idea of a math/physics double major.

I'd need four 3000 level physics classes.

Uh...8 classes, I usually take 5 calsses a semester....so...4 of them each semester? I'd assume that math writing isn't too bad, so I'd take

MA4643 Adv Calculus II (Prerequisite: MA 4633/6633 [Adv Calculus 1])
MA4933 Math Analysis I (Prerequisite: MA 4633/6633 [Adv Calculus 1])
MA4953 Elem Topology (Prerequisite: MA 4633/6633 [Adv Calculus 1])
MA3213 Math Writing (Prerequisites: MA 3163 [Intro to Mod Algebra])

second semester, to keep the loads as balanced as possible.

Well, I can split those up more if I need to. I'll have three or four semesters to take all of that plus the three classes I mentioned.

I'm just not sure how intense those classes are.

Well then, balance it as much as possible. I'd imagine that Math Writing and Numerical Analysis are not TOO bad, so help balance w/ those. Also, you have to take ADV. Calc. 1 ASAP so you can choose the others at your leisure.

I'm a EE, not a Math Major, so I can't really comment on those specific classes, but my Numerical Methods for EE class isn't too bad.

Well, I have an Advanced Calc text book here, so I guess I can prepare myself a bit this summer.

If your numerical methods is anything like the numerical analysis course I took, that's about medium in difficulty.
The analysis class, if it's at all like mine, will be a tough one.
I have mixed reviews of topology. But, anything that says "elementary" and is at the 300 or greater college level, isn't elementary!

I wonder what your math writing course is? How to submit to journals? You'll probably learn LaTeX or some such thing.

I don't know about the writing class. I've never heard of it anywhere else, but I'll try and find out what it is.

I have <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0486672905/qid=1128115591/

Bump for more opinions.

I know you math majors aren't out doing anything, it's Saturday.
