Of $9. I googled it and it seems to be some type of scam. Anyone know about this, or what I can do?

So I was finally able to cancel the account after digging around for a while. In the comments I pretty much told them that were crooks. They responded back to me.

Dear Jayme:

We try to make our offer as clear as possible and we apologize for any concern you may have experienced.

Our records show that on 6/14/05 you or someone in your household completed an online transaction with MovieTickets.com. After your transaction you were offered and accepted a membership in Reservation Rewards. Immediately next to the offer, the Offer Details were displayed, which included the agreement that we could bill the membership fee to the credit card you used for your transaction with MovieTickets.com.

The person who signed up for Reservation Rewards would have given permission to use that specific credit card. In order to sign up they would have typed in the email address xxxx@gmail.com two times, like a signature and also clicked the button to accept the membership.

It is our practice when a member requests cancellation to stop all future billings and allow the member to access the site and continue to use their benefits through the current month's term.

However, when a misunderstanding occurs, we are more than willing to cancel the membership and provide a refund.

This membership has been cancelled and we have issued a refund of three $9 credits for the membership fees incurred. However, your access to the site and the Reservation Rewards benefits will end today. Your refund should be posted to your credit/debit card account within 3-5 business days. You will receive a separate email confirmation of your cancellation.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Sincerely,

Karen V.

You guys are fvcking crooks. I hope a class action law suit is being filed against you soon.

I guess all in all it was my fault. I should have read the fine print closer. I just hate how they try to hide this stuff.

call your bank and talk to the fraud department. Most have one. I got a charge like that and they immediately did a chargeback and the money never left my account. They tend to take things like this seriously and would probably know if it was a scam.

BTW, have you recently completed any transactions on semi-shady websites that had a lot of check-boxes under the 'submit order' button that might have automatically signed you up for this?

Yeah, i'll give them a call.

The funny thing is that I am in Canada and the charge is in US dollars. No shady deals that I can recall.

Jesus, I just found another charge from the company for $11 a few weeks ago on my card. Apparently they setup a bunch of fake companies/merchant accounts, charge millions of cards for a low dollar amount and hope people don't notice

I GOT THIS EXACT same thing for months and I had no idea what the charge was. The first month I thought I bought something I hadn't remembered buying. The thing is, is it's difficult to cancel because you have to know your membership number, or something. I don't know how I got signed up for it, but once I called they did stop charging me. I couldn't get them to refund what I was already charged, though.

How did you find out what number to call etc?

I hear lumberjacks_eh.com bills under that pseudonym from the credit forums I am on.

;) I am willing to bet you signed up for something albeit unknowingly though.

I'm sorry I don't remember the phone number. I found it in an email from then I had to an AOL account that I pretty much only use for junk emails. I just so happened to remember coming across a junk-looking email from the reservationrewards people and found the phone number and my member number in there.

Thanks. I went to their website and hit the forgot password link and threw in my email address. I got emailed the account information. I don't remember signing up for this sh!t at all. I *THINK* it may be from one time when I purchased movie tickets online

I had the same problem. I am pretty sure I got signed up when purchasing an airline ticket online. I cancelled online with no problems.

aol is notorious for calling up with deals that you can get, but they sign you up for a monthly service (that you can cancel after 30days...blah blah blah)...

I joined some discount club to get a great deal on something (I forget what it was). I called the number right after I bought it and cancelled...got billed anyway. Called back, got billed again. Did it again got the name and all the details....billed again, called back and let them know all the details mentioned filing a lawsuit through our legal staff, got a refund in my next statement.

Them calling me all the time was one of the main reasons I cancelled aol originally. (I didn't use them as an ISP)

I can only hope that they get enough charge backs to have their merchant providers fold on them. In which case, they most likely get a merchant account under a fake business name anyways

At some point, while you were completing a purchase with an otherwise reputable major online retailer, you clicked okay to a supposedly "free" offer that you shouldn't have without reading the fine print. Good luck, I hate these scams, but they are unfortunately quite legal.

Same here. But, it's from EBWORLD.COM. Damn them! Damn Them to hell! It's very deceptive. Ebworld sent an email receipt and embedded in the email is the link to $10 coupon. Agreed to that coupon and Rewards will got you.
