I have a CD full of MP3s. Should I be able to play them on my car stereo?

I have a new Nissan Frontier with an AM/FM stereo with CD player. The unit works great with regular CDs but I want to play MP3s in my truck. OK guys, help me out here. I tried a CD with a few MP3s on it but it willnot read it. Anyone out there listem to MP3s in their vehicles? How do I get this to work? If I have to buy additional hardware what and how much? Thanks ...

I would doubt a stock player would be able to read MP3 CDs.

I use an MP3 CD player through my stock tape deck.

Seriously, you need a CD player capable of reading data discs with MP3s. IOW, you're going to have to go aftermarket.

you need to buy a new headunit that supports mp3 playback: like this

or buy a portable mp3 player and hook it up with a casette tape adapter, FM transmitter, or auxiliary cable (if your car has a port).

"Stock" CD players with mp3 capability are becoming more and more common. My coworker's Hyundai Elantra GT came with one.

Thanks for the info ... unfortunately, the current radio/CD player is huge, twice the size of a standard unit. I will consider all of your advice. Thanks ...

Just so you know, Crutchfield and most other places carry double height headunits which would match your vehicle.

Yes, ummm... I have a CD player and I put my Lord of the Rings DVD in it. Well, it won't play. It just makes crazy screeching noises.
