I have a bunch of old computer crap

I was cleaning out my garage today, and found a bunch of obsolete (and I mean rally obsolete) computer components:

- Diamond Monster 3Dfx card (12 Mb! yay!)
- 56k VESA Modem
- Turtle Beach Sonic setup (transmitter and receiver: broadcast your mp3s on radio frequency)
- misc. stuff

Goodwill probably won't take those, since it's just individual components. Is there any way to recycle them with a purpose or just safely? I feel bad throwing this stuff into a dumpster...

I doubt you'll be able to find a mobo with a VESA slot these days 🙂
And any stock graphics card these days will probably run faster than this sweet Monster 🙂

Ma Friend. Me just fired up an old PII300mhz with 96m of RAM(win XP cut down to 48megs at bootup) as a dedicated Usenet User. There is always use for Legacy Hardware u crazy Crab.

Heh I have a couple of ASUS Vesa 486 motherboards laying around somewhere.

I had a few old parts left over when I moved last year. I didn't have the time to sell them, and didn't want to pack them up to move them either. I just tossed them in the trash.

I have to give you a word of advice though: it's pretty crappy. This was on the dawn of broadcasting, when 802 wasn't even around. It sounds like listening to the radio on the output end, and the range is very limited. Plus, the included software is a pure piece of crap, but if you don't care for controlling your computer with their fugly remote - you can use any player.

how'd you get XP to get as low as 48MB of ram usage? Is this XP Home?
