I want to know if you've ever encountered such a strange thing on your PC.I have 2 identically memory module from Corsair 2x8GB 2400MHz,memory was tested by motherboard without problem(Green led pass),and in windows is available only 8 GB.Strange thing is,program like CPU-Z show me i have 16GB fully functional, but windows and Gadget show me it's available only 8GB....so who tell the truth,CPU-Z or windows, gadget??
I never seen such a problem like this....it's unbelievable

p.s. just one more question. If one memory stick is damaged it could damage the slot of motherboard as well??

What does the BIOS say?

You've probably had this computer for a good long while, has it always claimed you've only got 8GB RAM?

I wonder if the extra 8GB is being reserved for something silly. My first guess would have been integrated graphics but that processor doesn't have any.

Even CPU-Z says you're running Single Channel, something is definitely not working properly.

My advice would be to start by removing both DIMMs and remounting them in the positions indicated by the manual. Based on the video you posted, it looks to me like the sticks are mounted in positions A1 and D2, while the manual recommends A1 and C1. See the extract from the manual bellow.

After remount proceed to check BIOS, see if both memory modules are detected there. Then move on to Windows. If you're still having the same issue you can do the following:
  • mount only one stick in A1, check in Windows
  • mount the second stick alone, in the same A1 slot, then check Windows
  • again try mounting only one stick, but this time in the C1 slot
  • if either A1 or C1 don't work, try B1 or D1 as alternative.

Solved.Bad physical module RAM!It goes to RMA.The problem is why program CPU-Z is so confused.I thought this program is professional, but is not...

I ran into this sort of thing recently. Upgraded a box to 2x16. BIOS said 32GB, memtest tested 32GB, linux only saw 16GB, and the computer wouldn't boot at any speed over 2400 MT/s. After removing and reseating the sticks about 5 times, and swapping and re-re-removing and re-re-re-reseating, I finally got a good contact and now I get 32GB at rated speed. So apparently this sort of thing, is a thing, and one should suspect either bad contacts or bad RAM; especially if the slots were known good with other sticks.

He actually just recently purchased these parts despite many people trying to convince him not to as other options were the better choice. Since making the purchase he has posted several threads with problems related to this "new" equipment.

You have a bad RAM module and you expect the software to report everything correctly?
