THey are my work computers.

i made sure it's cool w/my boss first. 🙂

they are on screensave mode....is there any way i can make them go faster?

first and foremost--- Welcome!!😀

second- yes they can go faster. they need to have the "cli" version of seti, which runs about 2X faster. others will be along shortly to give some very good advise.

thirdly- what are they(the 6 'puters)-hehe, inquiring minds want to know😛😉

Doing what Marrkks said will help a lot! 🙂 You can follow the instruction on the page in my sig. 😉

Nice fleet there BigPotato. 😀

Definitely run the SETI CLI version, and it wouldn't hurt to run SETIDRIVER on those ships to keep a couple of day's worth of WUs available to crunch in case the network is down, or Berkeley servers are unavailable.

There are also team SETI Q's where you can point your clients to get/send WUs, and those Qs will keep stats on your fleet. 😀

Some of us run our own Qs not only to keep a number of WUs available for the fleet to crunch in case of network down time, but also to keep a close eye on our ships. 😀

Happy Crunching! 😀

I, like the others, would like to see you maximize your SETI WU production but I want to advise you to go slow at first. These sound like "Work Computers" so you might want to convert one to the CLI Client and see how it goes. If there are not any issues then move on the the next machine.

We have had some problems that relate to running OUTLOOK in "some" systems. We don't want your boss getting upset and banning the SETI project because of one of these issues. We can help you with the best setup for your situation. Just make posts in this forum and you will get help PDQ. 😉

BTW, we have one of the top ranked SETI TEAMS in the World here and we are the "BEST SETI TEAM IN THE WORLD". 🙂

We would certainly like to have you join us so please consider this your Invitation to Join TeAm AnandTech SETI". 😀

/unless of course you are not already a member/ 😉

If these machines are running Windows NT or Windows 2000, then you can run the Cli version of SETI using the Duplexing screen saver.

Duplexing Screensaver

This will allow you to run the Seti CLI program behind another screen saver (or even just a blank screen). Its a great way to get good production with minimal impact on work computers. I use the same program for half of my ECCp production (on 6 machines). Its a pretty nice set-it-and-forget-it tool. After ECCp, I will use this to run the SET CLI on these machines.

It currently doesn't work well with SETI driver, but a fix is in the works. You should be able to get away with not using SETI driver with Berkeley's new bandwidth.

The program doesn't work properly on Win 98 and Me based machines.

Thx for all the welcomes dudes. 🙂

These are office machines. If i can recall, here are hte ones that i have:

celeron 400 machine
celeron 533 machine
pIII 900 machine
pentium 300 machine
duron 1.3ghz machine
amd 900 machine

and mine at home is a 2.4ghz machine.

i have 2 running windows xp, and the rest are running windows 98.

i know they aren't the best computers, but they are on 24 hours a day so they can crunch forever. 🙂

my boss is cool w/it because i'm the one who fixes all the computers here, so if anything goes wrong, i can just fix it. 🙂

i don't have time today, but i will definitely check out the links u guys have for me. i remmeber a while ago i tried geting into the seti stuff, but then i got a headache so i stopped doing it. 😛

Nice herd Bigpotato, if they crunch 24/7 you should get somewhere in the neighborhood of 20+ WU per day using the CLI 😉

BigPotato
