I've said this before - I graduated in 2010 (so obviously not long ago). We had a professor in my business school that teaches COBOL still - and he swears by it because no one is learning it anymore, and it's basically an instant 6-figure pay because they are very much still needed.
Well, i know an old geezer that ONLY knows cobol, used to work with mainframes, and nobody wants him. Should i send him some job ads?

Machining or welding. Or anything that involves fabrication or trades of any kind really. Those are valuable skills that don't tend to get outsourced as much and is not too saturated of a market.

If you have the money, learn to fly.

If you have any sort of ear for music, learn an instrument.

If you like cars and have a garage restore a classic 60s or 70s muscle car.

I appreciate your optimism.

I dedicated 12 years to music, and it was a disaster.

That's why I said "if". You clearly don't, neither do I.

Learning to fix cars is fun and pays dividends down the road.

ANY mechanical skills are worthwhile in the real world. If you're not into cars learn carpentry or plumbing or HVAC, welding and metalwork, that can all be handy to know.

Masterbate with the other hand .... as though it were your primary..... go!

I can switch hands and gain a stroke. Many years ago my right hand was severely burned and forced me to go lefty for quite a while. You can read about it here if you want. I go into more detail later in the thread but that post covers the gist.

Well, they don't want a guy who ONLY knows COBOL. They want something who knows COBOL along with some database and modern programming (Java, C#, etc) skills so they can migrate that crap over to a newer platform someday.

That go me thinking If you can fly RC stuff they are looking for drone operators. The killer ones.

military is always an option for people seeking something new

plus they pay for your training, so you don't have to limit yourself to something you can afford out of pocket

I also like the various welding suggestions. That's a really awesome skill that can earn you some decent change from just doing projects for neighbors and locals, and I imagine is quite fun and satisfying.

Don't sell yourself short like that, I can personally attest to how good you are at giving it.
So you wanked that one out? O. mmm K.

And shorty, suck it, you're still mad the WD-40 rubbed of your callous.

Mind you , that is 1 callous.

You weren't that drunk so maybe you really are just trying to repress the memory but you darn near sucked the skin off of it. You had an impressive lack of gag reflex as well.

There's a meth-head posting in H&G these days that spent all of his money on two speaker cables, and is now trying to figure out how to live in a converted dumpster, and blames everything awful in his life on demons. seriously.

OP, I bet that guy would pay you everything left to his name if you could figure out how to extract the demons from his life. You know, I think he's a visual guy, so you could just make some shit up that satisfies him. Consider it a novice quest on the path of honing your new demon-hunting career.
