never made any big ticket purchases before... 18 years old, just got out of high school...

have a car, have no need of another right now... will be getting 13K when time comes around to buy another...

have some sort of a job... make my own hours, work 2-3 days a week 8 hours a day, 15 bucks an hour...

and i'm not charitable at all...


i want a second computer, not insanely fast, just reasonable... want to run a game server on it.

i also want an Xbox, and a PC TV Tuner, and a second hard drive for this machine... and a KVM/usb switch for switching between machines...

i think that's all...


what you think i can swing? what you all think i should do?

for the low end, AMD rules. Look in Gen Hardware threads for some cheap mobos, get a 1700+ - 2000+ and 512 MB - 1 GB of 2700 DDR.

I don't followthe hot-cheap XP mobos since my next gaming PC (this fall) will be a P4 2.8-3.0C and i865 or i875. But for a game server the main things are stability and lots of RAM. You might put in a $10 video card if one is handy to keep shared video from stealing bandwidth, but even that's optional. With even a 1700+ the bottleneck will probably end up being the network card.

nope, not an alcoholic drug user... i dont touch either.

and i will be living at home...

and i have 3000 in scholarships...

and i am going to a fairly cheap college...

and i my parents will be paying anything else in tuition.

all in all, i dont need the money, so i can blow it all on something wasteful and unnecessary 😀

nope, it's registered income. just so far, i havent made enough official income to come under the IRS's scope. will be soon 🙁
