Current case: I don't know what I hit, but it made a popup I've never seen before appear, a music player of some sort, and start playing a list of about 25 songs it showed. It was pretty small and I couldn't read the icon it had. Easy enough to solve, I clicked the x to close it. It closed, and the music kept playing.

It's still playing. I don't see any browser tab playing, nothing in my active tasks seems to fit it. In my background tasks, there's 'musnotifyicon.exe', but I don't know what that is or if it's related. So unless I reboot the computer it seems stuck playing this music I don't want.

Did you look among your "systray icons" after you "closed" it? Could it be MS Media player, in a small format? Or do you have third-party "companionware" that slipped in with something else on your system? Scan for malware?

Systray icons: none appeared relevant (I looked there, alt-tab cycle, and task manager). It looked like it might be a soundtrack for a game, but it was hard to tell. Malware found nothing.
