Stupid EA.com requires UPS to get a signature for their products. Good ole UPS failed to deliver one day, and wrote they would be here 12pm-5pm, and my girlfriend would be home. They show up at 11:30am, she's not home. They leave another delivery failure with time marked form 10:30am til after 5pm!!! WTF, i dont have time to just sit there waiting for those dumbasses.

God i hate UPS.

That's not stupid, it's smart. It eliminates the "I never got my package" chargeback scam.

1) It's not UPSs fault if a company requires a sig. They are just trying to prevent people from claiming they did not recieve it.
2) Find out where your local UPS delievery station is and have them hold it. You can then pick it up at your conveniece.
3) Do it now...They will only make 3 (could be 4) attempts to deliever the package after that they return to sender. If they do the company may or may not refund the shipping or they could even charge it again.

iamwiz82,

You are laying blame on the wrong party. You should direct your rant at the thieves in the world that force vendors to take steps to protect themselves.

Must say I agree with Russ on this one. Just call, tell them to hold it, and go pick it up.

I too am upset with UPS from time to time. They leave the delivery notice which clearly has a place for signature on the back. Rarely have I gotten to use that feature. Most drivers select the must present signature in person option. I hate that. I don't get off work til 5 either so I'm never home when the come. Plus they don't deliver on Sat. That makes me mad too. Oh well, my 2 pennies.

Move into an apartment; I've had about a dozen packages delivered in the last 6 months. I've been home for only two of them. The rest my reception signs off on. Kick ass!

This works for me:
Find out the day that the package is going to be delivered. Tape up a not on your door saying "Please leave package at door, here is my signature if required. If you need to contact me, call me at xxx-xxxx." If you don't feel comfortable with that, another thing I have done is when I have ordered something, at the time of sale I request that they do not require a signature. You should only do this if you are comfortable with the delivery guy leaving stuff at your door.

I too know the pain of having to wait a day and then drive 30 miles to go pick my package. It's life though...

Like Russ said, this is not UPS's fault. It's the shippers choice, not the carriers.

This is what you do: UPS tries to drop off-you're not there-they leave the sticky note on your door-you call the number before 7:00 PM and tell them to hold it for pick-up - the NEXT DAY, you can go the warehouse and pick it up between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM. No big deal.

It's a minor pain, but I would much rather pick my stuff up at the warehouse than have monitors and Antec cases sitting on my doorstep all day.

UPS blows for other reasons... such as dumping packages and running, while you're home.

Nothing like watching your monitor get chucked onto your porch and seeing the UPS man sprinting back to his truck hoping not to be seen.

Let's say UPS had no signature tracking AT ALL. Then, one day, someone steals your package while you're at work. You'd be here calling UPS workers dumbasses because they don't accept signatures.

"I don't have time to just sit there waiting for those dumbasses."

First off, you're the dumbass. And I highly doubt dumbasses could run the largest package-delivery company in the US. Moron.

I *highly* doubt the UPS drivers are strong enough to just "chuck" a 50lb monitor on your porch. And the UPS doesn't sprint hoping not to be seen. If the driver gets all of his packages delivered fast, he gets to go home early.

Just leave a note and signature on the door, and ask them to leave the package in a safe place (back steps for example).

Trust me...your lucky. My UPS man doesn't even ring my door bell anymore. He just dumps the package at my door and leaves. I have caught him doing this many times. (My room has a window near the front door) I would be home and I would here the UPS man walk up, scan the package, drop it and leave. That lazy bastid.

UPS close? bah. there are people in there from 5am to midnight.

Here's what ya do. Call the local center. See if your driver came back yet. If he did, the package will still be on his truck and you can get it. Simple. If it's not there, it will be in will call. Someone can look in there and scan the package with a diad and get a sig.

EDIT: Dont want to have to get sigs? Have a sworn notarized statement indemnifying UPS from loss, damage, flood, fire, or force mejure and have it filed with the local center. I asked one of the bosses there once, and he told me thats what they needed.

UPS won't leave a package at an apartment building any more. A driver who does is "jeopardizing his employment" according to the guy at the dist center. If you don't have a building manager that can sign for it you are SOL.

I too am pissed about the time UPS or FedEx delivers. They usually deliver Monday to Friday 9AM to 5PM, during which time most people aren't home.

You can call the 800 number on the slip and have them either hold the pkg. for you at the distribution center for pickup or have the package delivered to you at work. I've done that quite a few times.........get the yellow slip at home, call that evening, and it arrives the next afternoon at work. Never have to worry about it sitting out or not being there when it arrives.

I hate it when people do that. Guess what. Everytime someone pulls that UPS bills me an ADDITIONAL $10 on top of insurance, fuel surcharges, and shipping. And my customers always complain about shipping charges bing too high.......

Ditto. But, actually, it's $5.00 for the reroute charge. In any event, whenever a customer calls and has it sent somewhere other then the listed address, the vendor gets nailed, and doesn't even know it until the statement arrives. It should be the customer getting hit with the charge.
