How else are they going to provide the website service?

With the convenience fee and the processing fee?

I think he's pointing out the seeming incongruence between offering printed and mailed tickets (which costs them money for each ticket) for free while they charge you if you want to print it yourself (which is essentially free to them for each ticket).

Of course they had to pay to develop the system so you could say they're just making up their R&D cost, but really I think they're just trying to make a few extra bucks off people who waited until the last minute. Doesn't cost them any more to develop a system to let you print it yourself than it costs them to develop a system to print and mail it themselves.

WTF.

I just went to buy some Opeth tickets for the House of Blues in New Orleans. The price is $16.....PLUS $6.50 convenience charge....PLUS $2.50 charge to email the tickets.

They don't even have the option to send them by regular mail. I've had problems with the will call sh!t in the past.

Yes! That is the BIGGEST load of BS that TicketBastard pulls out of all of the fees. There is basically no additional cost associated with them doing that, they email you a copy of your receipt anyway. If you're going to scam people, at least make them feel like they're getting something for their money.

Even if it isn't convenient, it's sh!t like that that would make me go out of my way to buy from the box office. Spite is a powerful tool!
