...their onions sure do make some damn good dip!!! This stuff is so much better than ranch dip. Why can't they sell Freedom Onion Dip to go with my Ruffles?

Why exactly do you hate the French? I think it's real a misconception that they are jerks or hate Americans. I just spent a week in Paris and Southern France and met nothing but the nicest people.

You reckon? Lots of them definately DO hate Americans because of the sustained campaign aginst them when they refused to take part in the Iraq war. They also value "Liberty Equality Fraternity" as they would put it, above all else, but liberty and liberalism and socialism have become dirty words in the states, which makes them feel the US is not only against them as individuals but against the whole founding idea of their country.

Not all of them of course but some of them.

I felt no animosity from any of the people I encountered for the 10 days I was in France. Actually, I was quite surprised at how nice they were and they put up with my non french speaking ass! I honestly think it's a perception brought on by the media and people who've actually not spent time with French people.

However, I DON'T like their food and they flat out don't cook their meat. Several times I got completely raw chicken, steak and duck. They seem to think eating duck liver and other crazy shit is great. Just because you CAN make it, doesn't mean you should. :)

Southern France is some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen.

Germany was much better as far as food and communication. It was VERY interesting to watch how big the election was over in Europe. It was covered on all of their major channels and people were talking about it everyone. It was probably as important over there as it was here. You couldn't get away from it.

They mostly hate Bush and his policies more than they hate actual Americans. Sure, some of them let that spill over into hatred for Americans, but for the most part, they're smart enough to understand that Bush isn't representative of every American.

Well, this is what I hear from French students studying here anyway.

"Cheese-eating surrender monkeys."

Freedom Fries,

Freedom Toast...

My how the moran got strong in 2003...

How the right loved to remind them that if it weren't for the US (and the other allies) the French would probably be speaking German...and conveniently forgetting that if it weren't for the French coming to our aid in the Revolutionary War a couple of hundred years ago, we'd probably be speaking English here in the USA... ;)
