I mean, how much disk space and processing cycles are they wasting to have a cartoon paper clip fly around your documents and get in the way?

I've used Office 95 and Word 97, but then went straight to StarOffice (5.1 and 5.2).

IMHO SO is much better because it is in no way bloated, provides a better integration of the different parts of the office programs (text processing, spreadsheets, drawings etc.) and it is also available for my Linux box 🙂

You don't want to know how much I hate that ****** paperclip...

If it bugs you THAT MUCH, just right-click the thing, choose Options... and uncheck the &quot;Use Office Assistant&quot; box. From then on, you get the standard Windows Help stuff when you punch F1.
