anyone know a good guide, or think they can explain this crap? Trying to figure out hypothesis testing atm, what a null hypothesis is and how you calculate it and p-values and all that crap.

anyone have a good guide even? The test is tomorrow and i have no clue what i'm doing.

I remember when I took engineering statistics....man....that class was absolute hell. This is probably a useless post, but you uncovered a distant memory that I did not want to remember:(

I think the entire country would be helped by a crash course in stats. I truly think it's one of the pillars of ignorance in this country that, if semi-corrected, would vastly increase the collective intelligence.

I just went to office hours until I got it. Read the text book you might find it useful.

Well, based on my chi square tables, the probability of passing that test is <0!

From what I remember in statistics you?re OK with a larger population study that is within 3 deviations of the mean. That and a good statistician can put facts together to prove anything they want.

Statistics was the only class that & got a B in when I went for my MBA. I got A?s in everything else.

Hah yeah...Same for me..

Best advice is to camp out in office hours and go through the lecture notes. Engineering stats was my most painful experience in Engineering...but in the end I did learn a lot of cool stuff. Wikipedia has a few good articles on pdfs, cdfs, etc. Moment generating functions and a lot of that other crap...time to go office hours :)

Good luck.

null hypothesis you assume the mean of a specific variable is zero and then you test this assumption to see if it has affected the data in a significant way?

I wish I could help, but we just started this in my class, and I missed the first 10 minutes of the lecture so I really don't know what is going on.
