Stuff like this: crap where some e-stalker could set up soem 'sensor' that detects when you iPod nike kit goes within 60 feet of you. Wow. So it 'reveals where you are'.... and so what? walking past someone has the same 'issue'.
Yes, we should be careful of identity theft, and all that, but there's so much BS going around that people just get paranoid all the time. Same goes for a lot of media (US media in particular). Surely there should be some rule or law against posting innacurate or massively unrealistic info.
Slashdot is so bad for it. They post some bvllshit sensationalist title, then cover their asses by putting a question mark at the end. Soemthing like "Robots with lethal weapons will actually take over the world?" when some guy has attached a nerf gun to his rhoomba vacuum cleaner or something.
I'm also sick of technology that's '3 to 5 years away'. Making a 2" motor go up a piece of string does not mean the space elevator will be up in a few months.
