I hate school.

I'm in 4th year and I hate it more than ever. I had a nice internship for 16 months between 3rd and 4th years, which I enjoyed a lot. I liked the work, I loved making decent money, and I absolutely loved coming home and doing whatever the hell I felt like (which, since I lived with a bunch of other poeple like myself, often involved drinking and such).

After all that, I can barely stand school. I go to about 2hrs of lectures a week (even though I have 5 full courses) and I'm barely scrapping by with average marks, despite picking the easiest courses I could find in Comp Eng.

I'll never understand people who enjoyed this more than work...

They were in joke majors and never had to do real work, or knew their program inside & out. See "M4H takes BSc in Computing" :p

Actually, I'm the same way. Work for me is more of a test of my actual skills and knowledge, which makes me enjoy it more

I enjoyed school more because I didn't really have any responsibilities... do your homework, and nothing else.

Now I have a job, house, wife, kid, debt, bills, household / car maintenance, etc.

Don't get me wrong... I love them all (well...except the debt and bills)... but it was so much less stressful while in school. :)

Boo hoo. Go join the Canadian Army, they've needed computer experts like you to join up ever since their 386 "supercomputer" stopped booting properly.

VeggieFrog is going thru the same thing. She took a year off to do an internship and she loved it. She dreaded going back for her final year and is not enjoying it at all.

But quitting is not an option.

or they enjoy learning, and would rather be exploring new concepts every week rather than grinding out 40-50 hours at some place. They also love the lifestyle, how could you NOT?

I feel the same way. I'm in my 5th year and I cannot wait to graduate in May. I enjoyed my internships but I'm just really getting sick of school.

Nah they're treating me fine. It's a pretty tough school though...I have to put in at least 30 minutes of homework a night 4 times a week. It sucks... :(

I worked for a while and now I'm back in school finishing up a CS degree. I hate it and love it. Some of the usual academic BS is just way too annoying but some of it is awesome. Just the way it goes.

You know, I always say I love engineering except when I'm in school studying it... And to be honest, not only do I genuinely like most of the stuff I study, but I also read a lot of those pop science books (like a brief history of time) as long as their subject matter interests me. But there's something oppressive about the school atmosphere. Though I suppose that's a minority view.

I suppose I'm just getting tired of the same old, same old. After all, apart from this internship I mentioned, I've spent my entire life so far in school. I'm anxious to get on with life - I'm not a young'un anymore ;)

I feel the same way sometimes, bet in the end I know it will make me happier. :)

Tuff it out and be rewarded, quit and satisfy yourself for now and you will likely look back and kick yourself.

Not to mention that only two weeks of vacation per year is an abominable crime, IMHO. How can anyone live like that? Academia certainly has its downsides, but it has its upsides as well.

School does suck. i love learning, but being stuck in a 1.5 hour lecture blows. What sucks is learning it from a text book is no subsitute to learning it on the world.

I am done in exactly one month, and one day. I will be graduating in December with my BS in Information Technology. You do not know how happy I am to finish up from the ridiculous classes I had to take.

If you keep slacking off, you'll only be hurting your chances in finding that awesome job again.

Suck it up, whiner.
