I hate rude golfers.

So, i get off work early and hit the golf course. it's about 3:15 pm when i get on.

i finish the first 5 holes in like 45 minutes. 1 foursome lets me play thru at the 3rd hole (very very common courtesy to let a single player go by foursomes or even threesomes).

then i encounter this foursome, 4 women.

very very slow. very very very slow.

it takes me 45 more minutes to finish 2 holes behind these women.

at the 7th tee (they are at the womens tee box and i'm on the mens tee box waiting for them to tee off).

one of the women call back to me, hey, we'd let you pass but there is a 3 some in front of us and we don't want to have to wait for you between us.

omfg, i have never ever had someone not let me play thru when playing as a single.

very very very rude.

what was worse was i was only plus 2 thru the first 5 holes, then i went plus 4 the last 4 holes. GOD I HATE RUDE PEOPLE.

and yes, i played worse because they screwed up my timing.

edit

i forgot the most annoying part.

so we get to the ninth hole, and i'm thinking mb i can pass them at the turn.

they are on the green. then it seems one of the ladies is going to quit and leave, so they spend five minutes ON THE FVCKING GREEN saying their goodbyes so i can't hit on the green. WTF IS UP WITH THAT?

then the other 3 leave (btw, they have to cut ACCROSS THE PARKING LOT TO GET to the 10th hole).

and the one lady is sitting on the green talking on her cell phone, straightening out her bag and on and on and on. FVCK.

i should have just hit on the green then.

so by the time i get to the 10th hole the 3 ladies have just teed off.

OMFG.

public course, they didn't have enough rangers on hand, especially because they didn't have many golfers out there and they weren't anticipating any problems.

i could have played another 4 holes, but ended up cutting accross to the 15th hole after my 11th hole and finishing it out.

way better than driving range (i never waste money on driving range anymore).

if i need to work on my driver, i hit 3 or 4 tee shots per hole. if i need to work on a 2nd shot, i pull about 3 or 4 balls.

shouldn't matter if it's public...I always play on public.

worst case, skip ahead of them as they play. what can they do about it?

There's nothing worse. I've heard the gamut of excuses from these groups. They have never once made sense.

Allow quicker players to play through. Some people just are not familiar with this concept.

The kicker is that 9 times out of 10 it is a bunch of barbequers that will wait and wait and wait to get clearance to hit a shot and then DUFF one 30 yards.

meh..they have every right to be there too. maybe they were in a hurry and didn't want to wait either. and then if the threesome ahead of them didn't let you through then they'd be stuck behind you and be a hole later. many places will pair up singles or put people in threesomes or foursomes b/c you can't just have everyone passing everyone else or having singles just try to go through as fast as possible.

yeah I hate slow players.. but alas its pretty much prevalent in public courses (especially munis).

BTW what is ur handicap? I just got back from a productive session with a pro. I hope I can consistently shoot in the 80s soon.

and they do that here too if they are busy, but they didn't pair me up because they WEREN'T busy and the guy at the clubhouse even said, you'll probably pass a couple of groups.

btw, i don't care how much of a hurry they thought they were in, letting me pass wouldn't have even cost them 5 minutes, i'm an extremely quick player and rarely waste time especially when someone has let me pass.

This is also why I call my club before I go out to ask them, "Just how busy is it right now?"

I stay away from the BBQers. Even if it means playing on Sunday or Monday nights when the course is absolutely deserted.

Nothing beats hitting a great drive and then being able to take your time looking for balls or just chillin.

handicap right now is mid 90's. i just started golf this year.

i've played about 35 rounds so far this year. before this year, 5 years i didn't play more than 8 rounds of golf, so i say i started this year, i guess technically that isn't true.

shooting in the mid 90s after only less than a year is pretty darn good. All you need is good fundamentals. After that its just experiments 😀😀

I am addicted to this game!!

Thats what I always thought... also I think it is rude to single golf, you should find someone else and partner up, or join the threesome ahead of you.

Then when you catch up to the next group, hop groups 🙂

edit: I see your mention that it was slow, didnt realize that with 3 groups backed up (you them, them ahead)

the weird thing is, my long game is decent (i usually hit within 10 yrds of the fairway about 250 yrds), my short game is GREAT, anything within 100 yds i land on the green.

where my game is weak is my midrange game, i can't seem to hit any iron above a 9.

i am about 1.7 puts / hole.

so, my area of improvement really comes down to my 2nd shot game. if i can get a decent mid range game going i think i can get into the 80's.

again, if the foursome ahead of me and let me play thru i could have joined the 3some ahead of THEM.

but they would have undoubtedly let me thru.

how is it rude to single golf if the course lets you do it? the course was 3/4's empty this afternoon.

Exactly right. I hate slow play more than anyone on earth, but that's the way it works. If there's no open hole to play through to you don't get to play through. If there is a free hole and a group still won't let you through, skip a hole.

I am quite a straight shooter, but lacking in distance. What I am lacking is definitely distance, I can use 20-30 yards more on my drives (currently average around 220).
My short game is so so, my putting SUCKS ARSE. I am lucky if I can average two puts per round.

Platinum: BBQers is just the term I give to groups of people on the course which should probably be out BBQing on their back patio instead of playing slow in front of me.

Generally aged 40-65, played once in the past 3 years, everyone has a pull cart, maximum shot distance is 116 yds (and that is cause for "ooh, nice one Scotty!"), guys are more interested in the beer cart girl than the golf game, etc etc
