I fix shit, its what I do. I can fix damn near anything you put in front of me.

Sometimes shit doesn't go the way it should. Sometimes some cheap stupid plastic piece broke that has never broke before and I don't know to look for it. Sometimes I just miss shit. Sometimes someone else has been in there and done things different than I do and I have to try to figure out what they did, then undo it, then redo it so it makes sense to me.

We just had the rollers go out on our warehouse printer. Thing had been cranking for 5+ years with no issues. Its just a laser printer, no copier, no duplex, nothing fancy. 3 different people worked on it before we gave up and bought a new one. Nothing was going together the way it should. That shit just happens sometimes.
When things only last a short time compared to older models, it's what I like to call 'The China-factor'.

Indeed, it's now rather hard to find the sweet spot for a technology.

New: Tech is rushed, buggy, or not fully cooked

5 seconds: Bugs fixed and device hopefully not terribly outdated

Old: Product or technology is mature, lets figure out how to cost down it so much that is only weighs 4 ounces and breaks two days after the warranty is up.

I wouldn't print jack crap but signatures randomly on blank pieces of paper aren't binding. Go figure.

Wait, so I'm not legally bound to be Carrot Top's sex slave? NOW you tell me. :colbert:

The verdict is in. He did not break my duplexer other than the spring loaded plunger. He did cause my machine to not duplex. The broken piece of plastic fell down the slot where the paper runs so the printer can flip it over. It was jammed in the guide fins, keeping the paper from going down the slot. After my new duplexer didn't work, it took me about 15 min to figure it out. rudeguy wannabe.

So I was wrong about the rear motor not working. Figured that had to be it when the duplexer wouldn't work of my 2nd machine. I check it and paper won't feed down the slot either. There's something jammed in the guide fins.

Should he have figured it out? Who knows, maybe I was lucky. Should he have not tried the same failing test process over and over? Absolutely.
