I hate registering for classes

I'm a computer science major, and I just tried to register for the next CPSC class on my degree plan. It tells me I'm not the proper major. Now I have to try to go talk to my adviser tomorrow.

Last time I went to talk to him, his secretary called me an hour before and canceled, so I still showed up. I talked to her, and she didn't know that Comp E and Comp Sci were different majors.

Now I'll have to end up registering at normal time rather than a couple weeks early.

Wow, too bad you have such a sh1tty advisor. My advisor in psych was awesome.

I know what you mean. I had to jump through hoops to get into a class I needed. There is only one class, 48 available, and about 75 want to take it.

My actual adviser is fine, but I never get to talk to him. Also, there is a new CPSC degree plan and that has confused everything even more.

Totally agreed. I figured out, as it seems you have, that I only visit the guidance office when I can't do it myself. Seems they are much more worried about filling quotas for classes than actually "guiding" students.

I always go the classes I wanted because my coach would get the team members registered into their desired classes the day before registration was officially opened. That was one good thing.

They give us a 4 year breakdown for the EE majors here, so it's pretty hard to mess up.

I just hate the scheduling. Too many classes conflict, and working everything in often makes for really spread-out days. Next semester, I have no classes at all on Friday, but on Wednesday, my classes are spread out over 11 hours, with an hour or two between them. I hate that sort of day. I like to get everything done all at once, just so it's out of the way. All this spread-out scheduling just makes the day feel like it's being drawn out tortuously.

My advisor though? I can't complain there, he's been very helpful. And my professors don't seem to care about things like quotas, or textbook sales. One of them outright told me that he will gladly give out ISBN numbers for the upcoming semester, "it's not like I get a cut from the bookstore," or something to that effect.

I don't register for classes for at least another 4 weeks. And IIRC, I can pretty much take an course I want to, even if it isn't in my major, provided I have the prerequisites filled. Also, registration is done online - I rank classes that I want to take (provided it isn't a sequence that automatically rolls over) and then the following week, a computer assigns people classes based on their rankings and seniority.

I go to a junior college and sometimes running freaking start students get to register before I do! And I have like 65 credits!!!

Seriously, I'm working my ass off to pay my tuition and books AND I'm considered an actual sophomore.
