I hate recommending an AGP card

Well a friend of mine wants a new graphics card for DOD:S. He gets about 20 FPS in this map called anzio. I know that he has AGP and a P4 3.0 (same CPU as I used to have). But honestly, I feel like I'm ripping him off suggesting anything AGP. I know how he feels, I once was a victim of AGP land too. $200 for a 7600GT? GTFO! I recommended that one or a 6800GS, but that one seems to around the same price. His budget is around $150-$200. We compete in an online league called CAL (Cyber Athlete amature League). So any help for him, helps me. I just feel having a P4 and AGP is a money pit that can never be filled. So if you guys could help out, it would be most apreciated.

Have I recommended correctly?

If not, what would you recommend?

Thanks guys :)

Sounds good and all, but ummm where do I find it?

FIRST of all, MSRP is $250 for the x1950p

secondly, it will be released the end of this month

thirdly it should be the fastest AGP card [period]

Finally, ALL GPUs are a money pit ... $650 for a 8800gtx, anyone :p
... and then upgrade for r600
:Q

[ok, really finally] i don't feel bad paying $250 for an AGP x1950p ... it'll keep my system "modern" till i decide to upgrade to PCIe2 ... quad core ... vista ... bluray ... DDR4 ....
next year

and i should get $100 for my x850xt on FS/T

$150 is a VERY cheap upgrade. ;)

Yeah it would help to know the current card he has, I would suggest a second hand X850 or a 6800GT/Ultra

This is excellent news, I will replace my x800 pe with this. My 3200 amd 64, 939 rig still has another year left in her yet.

I hope they supply us with enough of these cards.
