I hate receiving cold calls at work.

I'm a worker bee at a pretty big company.

Him: Hi, I'm calling from Global Alliance Investing blah blah blah. Can you tell me who your head of HR is?
Me: Why are you calling?
Him: We sell home loan products yada yada.
Me: I'm sorry I'm not going to pass along a call like that.
Him: Well can you just tell me...
Me: You know how you hit a lot of dead ends when you cold call people?
Him: Yeah...
Me: Well this is one of them. <click>

I just got the "Are you the person responsible for ordering copier supplies?" call. I just flat out hung up on them.

I kinda like that one myself, usually call every 2 months. 🙂

I started forwarding calls like this to our security department. They love people that try to scam the employees. 🙂

My favorite is when they call up with something like this:

Them: Hi, I'm calling from USA Distribution, we handle the supplies for your Canon copier

Me: There isn't a single Canon product in this building.

Them: Oh, um.. well what kind of equipment do you have? We carry all types of toner and supplies.

Me: I don't know (lying)

Them: Well could you go over to the copier and find the model number?

blah

blah

hang up.

get like 5 co-workers in on a telemarketer chain, and transfer them down the line putting themon hold for 10 min for each transfer.

Yeah, that works. It's not like they immediately start spouting off more ****** to keep you on the phone. Yeah, just be polite and say no thanks once and they'll thank you and hang up. No problem. Really. It's that easy.

In England, (the England with London as it's capital) I got a call from these guys when I'm nearing the end of my contract. Everyone does, they're random. Anyways, I get someone calling me up, saying the following:

them: Hi, I'm calling from [random company] and noticed that your contract is about to expire
me : Yea, um, that's not possible, because I have my contract extended for another 6 months.
them: Oh, I'm sorry. In that case, may we interest you in some other deals.
me : No thanks.
them: Oh, ok, thank you.
