This morning, at about 7am, on my way to work I noticed a mini-van at the side of the road with three stopped vehicles behind it. I then noticed a woman walking towards the mini-van. I assumed there had been accident, or something had fallen from her vehicle. She got in and drove off.
I looked towards the other vehicles and saw something at the side of the road, on the grass. As I moved closer it became apparent that the woman had dumped a cat.
I moved towards the cat and quickly realized that it had been struck by a vehicle, probably her vehicle. (Regardless of whether she was responsible for hitting it, she left it to die.)
The cat was banged up pretty good, but still in one piece and didn't have any obvious broken bones or open wounds. I picked it up and immediately notcied blood all over its rear legs and from its right ear. I took it in, wrapped it up in a towel, placed it on the couch, and called the Humane Society (like the SPCA) who quickly picked it up.
I called them about an hour ago and was told the cat was still in the clinic, but stable. The cat will probably live, and because it is such a good-looking animal, it will likely be adopted and hopefully live a full and healthy life.
What really pisses me off is that this woman didn't feel the need to take a few minutes out of her schedule to call and get the cat help. Instead, she left it to die, or be discovered by someone else.
WTF is wrong with people?
