Then, if anyone kindly pulls you aside to mention it, loudly and repeatedly accuse them of coming on to you, no matter which sex they are. As a non-sequiter, mention aliens.

i feel for you and can understand why you are not going.
I also do not blame you for making up a "prior engagement".
Usually, i can talk to most anyone, but I would still feel uncomfortable.
Perhaps she was just trying to be nice and invite you.

I'm sure she was trying to be nice, but like you said, it would be uncomfortable.
She may have even be expecting me to decline, although that is not like her.
