Can you root and put a rom on it? Way back when I had my s3 it was laggy as heck too until I switched to a custom rom.

I will see how clearing the cache performs today. If the issue is fixed, I'm good. If not, looks like a system wipe, and me never buying Samsung again.

i didnt do it via recovery, just in storage and wipe app cache followed by a reboot. worked a treat. although if you can, i'd do as others mentioned and root the bastard!
 
I hated my s6 edge, and yes it was never out-of-box smooth again (and I tried many different things). There are a lot of background services going on for one thing

Does anything feel like the out-of-box smooth after using it for 1-2 days? Mobiles these days seem to want a factory reset every week to continue at optimal performance.
 
Got a HTC m8 that started to lag as hell. Took out all social media apps like fb, Twitter and now phone is super fast again, like new.

Still Sense is not as bad as TouchWiz

Samsung is the hardware company that has the worst software division.
