here is a suggestion for ya if you cant afford a windows version... go get a copy of ubuntu linux which is very easy to use and use it. you cant really play games until you can buy cedega but you will have a platform that is 64 bit and you will be able to use your pc.

OO, I love Ubuntu, they also send free copies in the mail, though once again, hard to set up for a novice, I'd use it as my main OS, if I was as framiliar with it as microsoft and specifically XP, and leadfrog I understand your post, though I do think of it a tad different than stealing, I live in canada and laws are different here, but just as I can borrow and lend movies, and tape them, or copy a cd, or borrow a recipe, or copy a casette, I think those who don't have the money, should beable to, though I do see a difference between a developed OS on a cd, and a produced material object like and LCD, ideally it would be great if their was some kind of alternative payment, like pay an ammount a month for kids under 18 or something, but eh no ideal world.

Blain if by 'BTW ComatoseDelirium, can I start my thieving carreer out at your house? ' means making copies of all my cd's using your own cd-r's. Than sure 😛 😀

I agree, buying the OS is necessary to owning a computer.

But i have never bought a copy of windows in my life thanks to my university =)

is there a shell for linux that changes the gui into one that is like windows so i can pick it up easily? also any programs that can let me run windows programs on linux?(preferbly open source or freeware?) im just tired of running win98 which crashed 5x yesterday while i was surfing the web.
my specs are
466mhz celeron(mendicino)
96mb ram
ati rage pro turbo
(any windows-like linux gui that work under these crap system specs?)

it was not me who suggested stealing an O.S. I didnt buy any of my parts, my brother went and picked them out as a birthday/christmas present and he forgot about the O.S. and hit the limit of my moms price range. So she wouldnt buy it, i dont have an allowance, and theres no holidays for months. You may suggest getting a job, but my school wont sign my work permit so I cant. Not until summer

i do not have a floppy drive so i cant go that route. and its not so much updating drivers, x64 doesnt say anything is connected to my computer

You know... gas is pretty expensive, but I enjoy driving my car.
Maybe I'll just steal some from my neighbor so I won't have to pay for it. While I'm at it, I might as well steal some motor oil for my next change.
Life would be so much cheaper if I just started to steal everything I need or want.

I'll distract him, you get busy.

Though I was fully aware of what I said was a bannable offence under the rules of this forum.

In that case, it would be a very good idea to edit your post immediately to avoid any sort of ban, temporary or permanent.

(Just some friendly advice.) 🙂
