I hate my computer speakers.

I hate my current computer speakers. I used to have A pair of Klipsch KLF-30's and a Definitive Technology PF1500TL+ connected though my Marantz SR5200 receiver. It was a decent setup and I really liked it. But alas, I was one employer short of financially stable. I had to store my stuff at my parents house while I looked for a real job after college. Now I have a job, but i've got a tiny room that I'm renting and no place for all my stuff. Until I get a decent apartment here in Boston my stuff will remain at my parents house in FL. It makes me sad 🙁

My life isn't completely mute now. I've got Logitech Z-3 speakers. They just aren't quite as sonically stimulating as my old setup. I was trying to listen to some music just now and it had a subtle hint of soupcan and wastebasket to it. Altogether not as warm the klipsch speakers. If the sound from my old system was a nice warm cup of hot chocolate after a cold day in the snow, the new system is a shot of windex being forced down your throat by a rabid crackmonkey on stilts. The logitechs just don't have that same warm embrace.

I miss you, guys. I'll come back for you when I can. *sniff sniff*

heh...i have the logitech z3's...they're not bad for me...but i dont do much music listening on my pc...mostly gaming...and they certianly do better than the 4 yr old labtecs i was using

That's why I won't ever buy computer speakers 😛

Even though my setup is by no means high end, it sounds much better than anything I've heard for computer speakers.

little Cerwin Vega bookshelfs, hooked up to an OLD Kenwood receiver... it sounds awesome compared to Logitech speakers, or any computer speakers IMO. my home theater consists of higher end stuff than this, so I know some good sounding equipment, but this definitely does not sound bad. and it cost ~$300 for everything.

Amp + Audiophile headphones
Integrated Amp + bookshelf speakers

Haven't purchased PC speakers since 98.

I used headphones for a while, I just don't like having tthem on for as much time as I'm at my computer and/or listening to music.

Checkout the Klipsch 5.1 Ultras. I'm sure they won't compare to your stored setup, but they'll take up little space and sound greater than what you have now.

Can't remember, they were nothing great. I had them while I had a roommate in college...they were more to keep his sound out than to keep my noise level down. I've also used my roommate's sennheisers for a while. They sounded great, but I just don't like having them on my head for hours at a time.

I might consider buying some if I didn't consider the situation to be temporary.

Btw, the only reason I bought the speakers in the first place is that I got some bestbuy credit from my family for christmas.

Yeah, you can definatly get better sound than computer speakers, but it is pretty impressive what you can get from a promedia set or something like that. If you need a 5.1 set for your computer, you can't easily get a decent one with a sub and amp for what the computer sets go for.

Have you thought about getting a set of bookshelf speakers?

Or maybe swans would be more to your liking.
