I hate my car.

I just payed this fvcuker off a little over a year ago. I was hoping to enjoy having that monthly note cash back in my pocket.

But, of course I will be spending that saved up money on repairs. I have had the car (97 Montero) in the shop twice this year already.

I cranked up my car this morning, only to have a steady knocking coming from the engine that speeds up as I accelerate.

I was all pumped about paying my car off. At this rate I will be paying as much in reapairs as I did on my note.

**UPDATE**

turned out I was just a little low on oil. They added a bit, and the noise went away.

Total : $7.00  🙂

Sounds like this repair is going to cost you a lot.

Hmmm...whats your general maintence plan? And whats the temp been like lately? Has your gas station switeched to a winter blend of fuel?

Yeah..Knocking cannot be good.

well time for a new car, eh?

Sorry about that, I ditched my used car as soon as it was paid off and got a check for a cool 11K. After you do the math on estimated repairs you'll be able to figure out if its best to stick with her or let her go and get a newer model.

general maintenance plan : when car breaks, I take it into the shop. Yup..that's the plan ;-)

Seriously, the temp has been between 30 and 40 degrees lately. Not terribly cold, but it does dip below freezing at times.

my pop own the 96 version, aside more a little tune up and maintance. the car has been nice and smooth

and definitely a nice snowmobile

So that means that you've never done an oil change😉

unfortunately this car is in pretty bad shape (lots of cosmetic damage) . I would be lucky to get 4K for her. Guess that's a decent down payment.

Ugggh...time for another car note :disgust:

I get the oil changed like clockwork every 3000 miles.

well you can do the math. Its your call.

I had a 95 Saturn that had a tick from a hydraulic lifter that occured when it was cold (less than 20 degrees F). I just kept changing the oil and the tick went away after a few days every time. But man, by the time that car got to 100,000 miles, I had done so many repairs on it that I was sick of it. I got rid of it in 2000.

In 2002, I bought a 93 Dodge Dakota. It took me 6 months to do all of the repairs caused by a general lack of maintenance, but for the past year it has been a very reliable ride. I use it to commute to work and for business trips. I make 300 mile trips regularly in it, and I made a 1000 mile round trip business trip in it over the summer. It has 178,000 miles now, and of course it's paid for. 😉

as much as everyone wants a brandi new car, ill never own one.

I figure if a car has made it to oh say 60K miles, then all the bugs have been worked out and it *should* last longer then the payment plan....

So far the car im driving now (91 Subaru legacy LSi) has gone 30K mi with very very minimal repairs, and i bought it for $250 with a bad motor. i stuck in a new motor, replaced the struts while i was at it and got new brake shoes all around...never had a problem since...so far, for $1k total ive had a perfectly good running car for the last two years 😀

(it helps that i do all my own repairs though, no $60 an hour for some putz to work on it)

Should have gotten a japanese car. They last forever, that is if you want to drive a 4 banger in a boxed body forever.
