I hate my body so much. Trouble getting motorcycle gear.

So I went to a motorcycle accessory store today to figure out what I should get.

1. My super wide feet can't fit into any of the boots they have. The only thing that *might* work are Sidi Megas, and they have to get special ordered. Is it a bad idea to just wear regular hiking boots when riding?

2. My head is big. Tried Aria, Shoei, and some others. Shoei is supposed to be really good, but the Large crunches in on my temples and the XL is too loose, so I have to try to jimmy rig it with thicker padding. $250 on sale. How do bluetooth headsets work with helmets when talking on the phone?

3. My pant rise is pretty short, so it's hard finding pants that aren't baggy on me.

Also, who gives a crap how the bluetooth works. If you are on a motorcycle, especially a novice rider, the last thing you need to do is be chattin' it up on a freekin' phone.

How about you learn how to ride first and worry about the best gear second? There are more third party suppliers and customizers for riding gear than any other industry I can think of. After you've ridden awhile (at least a year) you can decide what gear best suits your needs.

Take that knowledge and go try on appropriately designed helmets. My first helmet was an AGV in XXL. It fit around the cheeks and on the top of my head, but was like a torture device on the tops of my ears and temples. Then I got a Scorpion EXO-400, also in XXL, and, while the proper snugness, it feels like a slipper on my head.

I ended up getting a Shoei RF1000 for $270 with thick cheek pads that should make the fit snug and safe.

I spent $225 on a pair of Sidi Mega wide water resistant boots.

I have no idea what to do for pants.

Got a pair of gloves for $70.

I basically spent $600 today on gear. Yikes.

Then maybe $4000 after tax and title for a 2010 Ninja 250R, which may need to be modified because I sat on one and was too tippy toed for my liking. Motorcycles are really big, tall machines!
