I hate morons! (A story about work)

So I'm at work (the emergency medical service on campus) and we get a call. Tones go off which means its urgent. My crew and I rush down to our van while getting a description of the call. Its a choking victim who has possibly stopped breathing. We haul ass to the scene and are there less than 3 minutes from time of dispatch, cops are there before us, and the ambulance from the hospital is 2 minutes out. Guess what? The idiots at the scene decided that LEAVING the scene was more intelligent than waiting for the professionals. Apparently, he drove out to the hospital with the victim. Why? I have no idea. You increase the risk of death by delaying health care, not to mention the possible panacked state of the driver on the way to the hospital. Idiots. I hope whomever was choking is alright, but the person that thought it was best to drive to the hospital is very very stupid.

Anyway, that was my night last night.

I think you're being a little harsh.

Standing out (wherever), with a choking person, looking at the horizon waiting for help, 3 minutes can be a long, long time doing.... nothing.

In a panicked state, getting in a car and driving for help is doing SOMETHING, which the mind can deal with a lot better than sitting there helpless.

I can certainly understand why someone would do that, even if it is the wrong decision to make. It doesn't mean the person was a moron; the person was scared and not quite rational at the time. No big surprise, given the circumstances.
