I'm from Canada and saw the amazing CPU prices for the 3570 and 2500, and I can't buy because those are in store only!!!

And I live in Thunder bay so the closest store is 6 hours away from me near Minneapolis...

No good prices for you...

Instead of hating Microcenter, hate yourself for living in the middle of nowhere.

At least you have "free" healthcare. And don't forget the poutine, that's worth a lot more than a silly processor.

Buying computer hardware in Canada can be frustrating unless you live in Vancouver or Toronto area. I just got used to it. In a way I think it's better that I don't have the ability to just drive somewhere to go buy computer stuff or I'd be buying stuff all the time.

I always plan my orders so I can save on shipping. When I need something small like a fan or something, I will just put it on a list. When I need enough stuff I order it all at once and don't expect to see it for a week or two.

What I hate is when stuff gets backordered though. It's one thing I have to wait till it ships, but having one item shipped one at a time over the course of a month is very annoying.

I am in the same boat, they keep teasing me w/ these unbelievable prices. when I was in college in boston, my grad dorm was right next to one, and I could just bike there under 10 min. too bad now I had to drive like an hour and half to get to the nearest one. Not worth it.

but doesn't canada got NCIX? they seem to have onsales from time to time?

Yeah NCIX is pretty good, it's still not as convenient as being able to drive an hour or so somewhere though. If I wanted to go to any major computer store I'd have to drive 8+ hours. Though some days I feel like if I had a decent vehicle, I'd totally do it. The thought of being able to buy computer parts and have them within a day is awesome.

OP, Microcenter and Fry's are small chains that have very little market penetration. Microcenter has only 23 stores while Fry's has 32.

Most of us may never be able to take advantage of their in-store pricing because it is simply uneconomical to drive there.

Bad rant ...

Love it, 2 Micro Centers (19 miles and 30 miles) in the Chicago area and a Fry's (24 miles) too. And a TigerDirect/CompUSA 1.5 miles away. :awe:

Arguably it may or may not be a fun fieldtrip w/ 4 friends building brand new SB/IB systems

Weakest rant ever. Just go to FS/FT forum and don't buy from anyone who hasn't been here like 5 yrs or have more than 20 refs.....

Its worth it if you have somebody to split the cost of gas and tolls with. I drove 2.5 hours to the Microcenter in Cleveland. Saved about $70 after gas, tolls and tax.

No really, I think it would be awesome. Basically, a small portion of poutine rolled in bacon, sushi sized. If for some reason that can't qualify as sushi, wrap it with seaweed. Then more bacon. Then deep fry it.

My mouth is watering.

I'm living in the middle of nowhere because my job gives me insane cash for a co-op student!!!

Well I think its valid, because I would have assumed that a small chain like microcenter wouldn't have 1/2 of its items in store only, at least small chains in Canada have much more online selection.

I can pick it up for you, if you pay shipping and send me some poutine!

Wait does U.S. not have poutine? I thought you were home to the most fancy foods on the planet, like fried butter, doughnut burgers, why would you not have poutine? :D
