supposedly a few friends came over to my place about a month ago, stayed a few hours, and brought their cat and i was playing with him.

one of them mentioned it today... and i remember nothing. nothing about them coming over, nothing about the cat.

at first i didn't believe it, but i checked with someone else who was supposedly here and they corroborated the story.

it's been 10 years since i had brain surgery and usually these things come back to me, but this one is not.

edit: reason why i think i forget so much stuff

i had seizures for about 10 years. it was all happening when i was in high school/college, and i could only drive about 1 year during that whole time. i did have 1 seizure while driving and crashed into a car (luckily at low speed, nobody hurt). so i tried pretty much every medicine on the market to control them, but none of them worked for more than 6 months or so.

i finally got sick of all the medicine side effects, went to a new doc, she said that i might be able to get surgery. they did some tests, found that surgery had a %60 chance of stopping the seizures, so i gave it a go. they took out almost a whole temporal lobe and a hippocampus (where the seizures originated from due to scarring from a high fever as a kid).

that fixed enough of the problem that the medicine works now, so i don't have any seizures and i can drive again.

but the downside is memory loss. since temporal lobe does word memory among other things, i forget a lot of words while talking. and since the hippocampus converts short term memories to long term memories, many little things that happen to me during the day just get forgotten, because they don't make it to long term memory.

usually it's little stuff that i forget, like something people tell me in less than a minute. that's what is weird about the cat thing... i have never lost something that took a few hours instead of a few minutes.

That would happen to me when I used to drink. I still have a crappy memory sober but that has always been true.

Maybe...just maybe...remember, we've seen your attempts at writing pomes...maybe the doctor forgot to re-install the brain when he finished working on it.

Weird. Does that happen a lot?

Probably...but he doesn't remember. :p

So in about a month the OP will forget that he even started this topic? ^_^
Or is his memory loss specific to certain events, or just has short term memory now because of the brain surgery.

well i forget a lot of stuff but once people give me cues to jog my memory it comes back

that's what's bugging me, there is nothing on file for this
Why not write on a calendar what you did/what happened on that day?

There's a story you're not telling us, or you're trolling us.

Do go on, tell us.

If you are serious that doesn't sound good. I would be getting a CAT scan. Or maybe you already did?
