i hate local toll

can't just tell from the number whether i need to add a 1 to the front or not. and it's not like houston's area codes cover a large geographic area. no, this was only 20 miles away to a suburb that the city was thinking of taking over.

we have three (maybe 4 now) area codes in Dallas: 214, 972, 469 (not sure if 940 is or isnt)

You don't need to dial a '1' to call any of these numbers...

I have to dial the 1 any time I call outside of my area code. My mom doesn't. I don't know why. It's less annoying to just dial the one than to get the loud tones and recorded message.

In my area if you dial the 1 and it is not needed you still get the loud tones with a recorded message "It is not necessary to dial a 1 before the number, please hang up and dial again"

So, get a better phone package, and quit worrying about the long distance costs...We don't pay long distance on the cell phones (almost no one does anymore) NOR on our house phones...fvck long distance charges...

Sometimes, not always. My home area code was 610, and sometimes we'd get the "You must enter a 1 before dialing this number," and then it'd be a toll call. It was a rural area though, so I guess 610 covered a large area. I don't know why else it would be that way.

the stupid thing is that 713 is supposed to be inside beltway 8, so one would assume that all 713 numbers would be regular local. but somehow this one snuck out to the suburbs.

must have been way out suburbs for local toll..cell phones remedy this problem

no provision for service by email in the texas rules of civil procedure. there is courier, certified mail, and fax.

at least harris county will be moving to electronic service within the next year, thank god.
