I hate it when the market drops on a Friday.

I had some savings in a vanguard moderate lifestyle fund. Gained over a grand in 3 months. I decided to bail into an intermediate bond fund. A correction is long overdue, so I think I'm going to sit out for a while, though I'll probably want to kick myself a week from now.

For some reason, market always goes up on the 15th and comes down on the 16th. Guess when I get my paycheck? :(

I'm predicting at least a 5-10% pullback from the recent high's. If it drops 3-4 percent more I'll probably start averaging back in. I'm more concerned about preserving principal than fretting over any potential missed gains.

Rising interest rates usually hurt bond funds so parking money there might not be the best choice.

I don't try to time the market. Buy, hold forever. Rebalance by buying more of something else.

I think I made a wise decision.

How about today? I'm still trying to decide if a drop on Friday is better than Monday.

I'm overdue for a re-balancing so...

Jump.
Sit.
Jump!
Sit!

Stay. Stay. Reinvest. Good dog!

I tend to agree that the market is going to see a correction in the next 1-3 years, but I'll just keep auto-investing. 15% TSP G fund, 5% mid-term investment-grade bonds, 56% total US stock market, 16% total world stock market, 8% REITs is my asset allocation.

I hate it because my housemate (who actually pays attention to these things) is a nervous wreck all weekend, checking her investment portfolio more frequently than her email.

Me? Meh. 401k, let Vanguard deal with it.

When I saw this thread on top again I thought "Oh, good, it's Friday!" :(
