Just buy an iPod already and be done with it. I have 3 of them. They are popular for a reason. :p

Why do you need 3 of them?

Short battery life? :p

I don't want to be fumbling with an mp3 player while i'm driving. having control through the headunit means I can put it in my glovebox and out of site.

That's exactly what I did. It rocks! I can control my iPod 40GB with the remote control that my HU came with. The wires for the iPod run behind the dash into the glovebox, you wouldn't even know it's there and I haven't removed it for months.

My wife has her Nano plugged into one of those cassette tape adapters and it sounds like crap. Maybe we'll upgrade her stereo one of these days.

I have a black 4GB Nano for myself that I use to workout or when I'm riding my bike (I just leave one earplug in).

We both use Sony earbuds that insert in the ear canal because the Apple ones suck and they kept falling out.

I have a 40GB which was the first one I bought that my wife quickly made hers so I bought her a Nano a few months later to get mine back and then I bought myself a Nano a couple months ago so I could keep the 40GB in my car and use the Nano for all the other times.

I'm perfectly capable of living through my life without a non-stop soundtrack. I love music, but don't need it to do every mundane thing I do. I have an older 40gb iPod and even if it did work correctly, it's still an overpriced POS.

I have a Rio Karma. It's awesome. DannyLove, you should seek one out.
I don't have a problem with iPod, but I do dislike how iPod is now the generic term for "MP3 Player."

The iRiver line were the champ players for awhile, now I'd say that belongs to the Coxon iAudio line. (I rate on a basis of supported formats, plug and play capability without software, battery life, and last but not least fidelity.) The ipod rates poorly in all of these categories when compared with either of the other two lines I mentioned, not worth the price IMHO unless you want to pay $300-$400 for the chic.

My younger sister told my mom she wants an ipod for her birthday. No other mp3 player would do.

She's not getting one. :)

I got my little sister the coxon iaudio X5 for her birthday and she loves it, cheaper than the ipod and leaps and bounds better, IMHO. My wife has the old iriver 320, which I like to "borrow" from time to time. :D I have to hand it to apple on the touch wheel interface, but other than that I can't stand the player.

i like ipods, especially the nano. i dont want some bulky thing in my pocket or on my arm when im working out. the nano is practically invisible and weightless. i guess it is cool to hate them though, so you cant really argue with that.

It's really interesting to see how so many clueless people claim that one is riding a sort of "anti-iPod" bandwagon when the simple matter of the fact is they just don't like iPods.

I don't like them myself, so *OMG* I must be part of the new "cool club" that likes to hate on iPods.

While I don't think the iPod is perfect, far from it, I don't think any of its competition is any better. Every player I've used/seen have their own shortcomings, and none of them have been an end all be all player. I think its stupid when people call the iPod a POS because it doesn't fit their needs.
