you know, the one where the cover is the three sides, left, top, and right. six screws at the back.

i don't know what were people thinking when designing this crap. it's extremely hard to open, especially if it hasn't been opened for years. i practically have to fight with it to get it open. 20 minutes of my time wasted as opposed to about 5 seconds in a newer case.

just a rant.

So tell me, how do you really feel?

you're right, i'm calm now. it's probably best to post this thread just when it happened, about five days ago 🙂

You want fun? Try opening up an old Compaq Presario case. I'd have a better chance breaking into Fort Knox than getting those things open at times.

o yeah i know.. that's the one that's also a slider right? but only on one side.

grrrrr :|

It's not so bad. It could be better, certainly. I saw a 386 once (a desktop, not tower enclosure) that had two buttons on the sides (low and in front). You pushed the buttons and rotated the cover high and behind 🙂.
those 6 screws were sometime almost stuck 🙁

Or those old enlight cases where the four screws were on the FRONT - so you had to remove the plastic front panel first before you could open the case.

Opening older cases can be a pain, but the thing I hate about them is the amount of unsanded jagged edges. I hate popping a case open to swap hard drives or whatever and realizing a few minutes later that my finger is bleeding.

Or a Packard Bell PC. Horrid things those systems were.
