i'm standing in line at their customer disservice counter waiting to return a fan i bought this morning (got an 80, needed a 92) and listening to the conversation of the guy in front of me, who is trying to return windows xp home. the csr tells him that windows xp will not boot from a fat 32 partition. i started giving him and evil look at that point and was about to tell him that xp will let run just fine from fat 32 (i'm dual booting with 98 for those old dos games) and to stop lying to customers. then that guy left and the manager came over. shoulda told the manager. then when i returned the fan they gave me store credit, which i'd have normally been pissed about but i was about to go get another fan. so i get over to the fan section and they've got some 35 dB fry's branded toyo fan, which i figured was too loud. so i search around and find one other 92 mm fan, its a zalman but doesn't have any specs and the label isn't where i can read it. if figure zalman is quiet, and get it. take it home, pop it out of the bag, notice its 3.36 watts. divided by 12 volts is 0.28 amps. thats twice the amps of the fan i'm replacing (which was making all sorts of grinding noises, it was 3 years old after all. ) its not as annoying as my 10.44 watt delta is, nor my 4.3 watt sunon ultra high speed, but its not what i was going for. definitely louder than your run-of-the-mill 80 mm LED fan, though. might have been better off with the 35 dB fan. zalman even says on the package that is quiet. my ass. meh.
