Strong words, I know but after all the dentists I've seen its difficult for me not to. Despite the fact that I never have cavities and brush daily... every dentist trys to pin the blame on me for my gums bleeding while I'm there.
Then my defensive nature kicks in and I have to say something smart back like "they never bleed when I brush". This seems to always lead to the response "then you must not be brushing properly". Of course not allowing myself to be outdone, I must come back with something along the lines of "yea that would explain why I don't have any cavities again, right?".
Then I have to explain to them that I feel it was their bimbo cleaning lady who used her metal prod on my gums instead of my teeth that caused the bleeding and I feel she did a piss poor job and needs to be retrained.
In the end I leave with a sore mouth, a piss poor attitude, and a headache because I need to find another new dentist: I can't allow myself to go back to this one.
I never had this problem when I was a child. Maybe they were easier on me because they knew a child would cry and complain... but I have another theory. I think they knew the child would cry and complain so they did their job properly, carefully cleaning the childs teeth. When you get older they just dont fkin give a sh!t and proceed to rape your mouth with their metal fingers of death. Why should they care? You're an adult you should be able to handle it... crying only makes you look like a little b!tch right?
Dentists are supposed to be providing me a service, I'm paying them. I don't need any lip as to how horrible I am at cleaning my back two molars. Yes, advice or recommendations would be nice but most of the time these people are down right nasty. It seems like most of them take it like a personal insult when people show up with less then perfect cleaning. Correct me if I'm wrong but if I could clean as well as they could without all their fancy schooling and tools then they would be out of a fking job because I sure as hell wouldn't be paying someone else to do what I can do myself. They should take some notes from other people who provide services to people, such as waiters. Now if a waiter had come in, given me lip on my eating habits because I was slightly over weight in their opinion and proceeded to give me sh!tty service for the rest of my time in the resturant they sure as hell would be hearing my opinion on their service, so why do people who give dental services feel differently... should they be exempt? I personally don't think so but apparently they do. From the looks I get from them it seems unlikely that they receive much criticism in their line of work.
Am I alone on this? Is my mission to find good service and respectful (aka non-asshole) people to provide me with dental service a waste of time? Are all dentists this way or is my luck just really bad? Am I the only person on this mission?
Ok rant off, thanks for letting me vent :disgust:
