I HATE Chevrolet! ::UPDATE::

FVCKING CHEVROLET! I was driving today from the post office after sending an OT'er there CPU and HSF and all of a sudden my car went BOOM, and shook really badly, at the next stop light there were no sounds or smoke but as soon as I started moving I was hearing the sound of rocks in my transmission. Well there goes the transmission for the SECOND TIME! POS 1996 Lumina, first I get locked out this morning and now this! Oh well, guess it was time for a new car. But now it IS NOT going to be an automatic, neither an American car. 😀

UPDATE:
Update, I HAD to drive to get out of traffic. As long as it drove home I was happy. THIS IS MY PARENTS CAR, not mine. Rapid Transmissions in Escondido rebuilt our tranny 50k miles ago and they fvcked up, before the car ran smootly and quiet. After the rebuilf it shifted hard and drove very rough. It also could be herd idling inside the car. Mr.Goodwrench is no longer our friend because the warranty is dust. I think the only good thing out of this is that I get a new car! And my parents and I have agreed on one thing, it's going to be an import, most likely a Honda and a MANUAL transmissions. My dad's 1985 Honda Accord Hatchback lived to be 300+k miles before he sold it to his brother who's daughter's boyfriend "borrowed" it and started racing around. He blew the tranny. 300k is alot more than BARELY 140K we've gotten out of this car.

You should take your ninja self over to Mr. Chevrolet's office and do a round kick flying double monkey paw attack on his chihuahua.

Cardinal mistake #1: Buying a FWD chevy actually designed by Chevy. If it ain't a 4L60 behind the motor get out😉😛

That is one nice thing about a clutch. It's harder to fugg up. Still clutches cost money to replace and don't always last as long as an auto.

Yea because ONLY chevy has tranmissions that go bad, and I am sure you followed the trans service 100% right

never had a problem with my gp 3.1 tranny (4t60-e tranny, probably the same as yours), or the tranny in my GTP, a 4t65e-hd tranny)

Sorry to hear about the problem with yours.. sounds expensive.

Are you saying you hate the heartbeat of America? :| :| :| :| :|

Why don't you just leave the country then and make room for people who really appreciate it? :| :| :| :|

My wife bought a 1997 cavalier brand new and after 2 years of driving it on the autobahn in germany the motor blew up. Since we bought it in the US and shipped it to germany back then, there was no warranty, or authorized repair shops there. The car only had 21,000 miles on it, had a oil change every 2,500 miles and still died. Oh well, neither of us will ever buy a chevy again.

Ford is the suck, who did your rebuilt tranny?

Please, tell my dad the horrors of Ford. He has his eye on the 2003 Ford F-150's. I really want him to get an X-Terra or Toyota Tundra.

Uh, F-150's are good trucks. I would buy a Ford or Chevy full-size without thinking twice.

I just rebuilt the A4LD tranny on my Explorer (yes, rebuilt), and am putting it back in. Just need to hook up the exhaust and radius arms now and transfer case and try it out. I have it mated to the engine already and the starter in, etc.

All new rubber, bands, intermediate drum, clutch packs, reverse/low, intermediate, and overdrive piston seals, etc.

I just hope it works. 🙂

I made my own tools to compress the clutch springs.

GM makes excellent automatic transmissions. They even have a deal with Honda where they are helping Honda make automatic transmissions in exchange for Honda helping them make engines.

I've had two cars with the transmission in your car - the 4T60E. One car I sold with 210k+ miles and trans was fine. The other I still own and it's nearing 100k miles and drives perfectly. They also routinely use this transmission in taxi cabs and such. To have the trans go at 90k it was either neglected or beat on or both. And I don't see how you can blame a poor rebuild by an independant shop on GM.

Just say what you mean - you want a foreign car because you heard in a magazine that jap cars are good and yankee cars are teh suck.

All i know is my gfs '00 focus has been in the shop 7 times now for repairs, and she drives like shes 106 (in other words not rough), and treats the car like its made of gold. However my '02 Acura RSX has been in the shop once, has more miles on it, and it was in the shop for a blown speaker. They couldnt replicate the problem, so they just replaced all the speakers in the car. I was very suprised that they were doing this and the salesmen tells me "what'd you think you bought? A ford?" and we both smiled.

Magazines didnt tell me that, my brain did. A car with 28,000 miles on it shouldnt have had this many major problems. (leak in the heating coil, wiper motors burned out, alternator, RR strut, front brakes twice, cant remember the 7th but it was engine related)
