ARG! I hate chase bank! for the last 24 years I have had great credit and have never been late on any payments and always paid at least twice the minimum on all of my cards. A few months ago I get a letter from one of my cards that said it was being bought out by chase and JP morgan and that my interest is going from 9.99 to 20%. So I close the card to lock myself in the 9.99 and order my credit report. I asked them why and they gave me the BS about too much revolving debt blah blah blah. (I only have 3 cards and owe less than 10k.) I tell them BS, you just want the customers to pay for the merger. Anyway, I pay off 90% of the card and only had a few hundred left of debt on it. Well, I went away on vaca for a coupla weeks and thought I paid the bill for August but I forgot, so I called them and told them I was away and that I just sent a payment. I was about 4 days late and the bastards shot my APR to 27%! I wrote them a check and completely paid them off. One late payment in 24 years and BAM! Almost 3 times the APR. The card is paid off but I am now worried about my other cards. These days all it takes is one late payment to jack up everything! ARG!
