I ****** hate charities which try and guilt-trip you into giving donations :|

In fact i'll probably withhold my donation on principle, and give it to some other, equally deserving cause that doesn't try to make me feel guilty for living in a first world country with an amazing quality of life and the use of the correct number of limbs/absence of any unpleasant diseases etc etc :|

I dislike the people ringing bells outside of stores. They purposely setup their little kettle so you have to half walk around it to get into the store, and just stare at you while you walk by. As a general rule of thumb I just don't give to charities at all, with the exception of one or two.

A friend of mine and I had a discussion about the bell-ringers the other day. He almost refused to leave the store because he didnt have a dollar to drop in the bucket. I said to him that "you dont need to donate to every red bucket you see" and he gave me a look like I just killed his unborn child with my bare hands. I finally got him to leave the store and he wanted ME to get change from his car, run back to the bell-ringer, and drop it in the bucket.

I'm all for charities and do give to the bell-ringers every now and then, but I don't think I should have to give to every bell-ringer I see when I enter/leave a store. That's insanity.

And yes I gave my friend a lot of crap for it. (not for wanting to donate, but feeling that if he didn't donate to that bucket at THAT moment, he would be a bad person) 😛

Sometimes people need to realize the inequalies of the world. But of course there'll always be people who get offended at such efforts

Then come to the US where the "company" says "its in your best interest to give" while the united way chairman accompanied by the VP of HR is holding a loaded gun to your back.

"there you go...just give.....it will all be over with soon.....it's just a little pin prick....there will be no more AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
