Thats the crux.... just because your path to god differs from hers doesn't indicate you are in need of help.... those who need help are those who think only their way is the way.... IMHO

PS: I personally don't have any problems with the other religions.... I believe all are valid paths to what we seek....

No, they've rationalized fulfilling the genetic instinct many people have for power & control over others by claiming they're only trying to help. What's truly sad is most genuinely believe this.
whats sad is those that think they have it all figured out and lump all those of a certain persuasion together. your statement could apply to any and all religions or causes.
Yeah, fcuk all those Muslim & Hindu missionaries! :|
Oh wait...

Saddest of all is being as arrogant as you claim I am and not even realizing it :(

Muslims' pitch "CONVERT OR DIE" and Chritians say "you are going to hell if you do not believe in Jesus"

Two of the worst religions in the world. Jesus and Mohammed were very narcissistic.

im not being arrogant, as im not the one trying to speak to others motives or belittle their beliefs. if someone wants to evangalize, live and let live. they do me no harm. we all have the choice to listen or not. i choose not to and go on with my life not caring for their motives or beliefs. why cant you?

issues with control indeed.

You're not belittling my beliefs by telling me that it's wrong to have them? And what exactly is evangelizing, if not belittling the beliefs of nonchristians?

i dont recall ever saying you were wrong. just that youre doing the same things you hate christians for doing.

evangelizing is spreading the word, not forcing it on anyone or tearing down their beliefs. again, we all have the choice to listen and participate, or to not.

 Then what do you mean by commenting on my atheism with "whats sad is those that think they have it all figured out"? Unless you were referring to both atheists and religious people (which you aren't), you're supporting a double standard; saying christian beliefs are OK but atheist beliefs aren't; that it's ok to believe, but not ok not to. As I said, christianity's inherent hypocrisy is quite insidious - many of you nuts don't even know you're doing it.

So are you ok with free ipod scammers spamming up AT forums? Do you enjoy getting phone calls from telemarketers?

I agree

-my own message- evangelicals are horribly annoying people.. im fine with christians, but I hate the G. Bushs' and the Pat Robertsons, and the Bill Frists, and the Benny Hinns, they should be tortured.. in the afterlife.. anyways.

actually, i was referring to both groups. its sad for anyone to say they "know", when no one does. words of a fool, or tool, or nut. your pick.
you have just proven my point. the "fringe" of both groups are the same. name calling, condemning, and judgement.

i ignore the thread. i ignore the call or say no thanks and hang up. the same thing i do if someone wants to "witness" any cause to me if im not interested.

for the record, im not a religious person. im not an atheist. i dont know.

I'm an atheist and I think Buddhism rocks.

There were CCC all over my college too, but they never tried too hard to convert me, though.

Gotta love a double standard, eh? Not really surprising in a society whose majority follows the most hypocritical religion in the world

Actually, fraternities do the same thing in larger numbers and with higher frequency. At my school (especially during the beginning of the year), they stand outside by the cafeteria doors and walk around the dorms to try to talk to people about rushing with them. I've been approached probably 10-15 times, if I have time I might have a short conversation, take a rush calendar and say "thanks, we'll see". If I don't have a minute, I say "no thanks", and we both go our seperate ways, no one feeling any different about the other person. I've never stood there for 45 minutes "just trying to piss them off", nor do I understand the logic of that.

A double standard? Indeed.

I'd feel the same way & certainly wouldn't have joined one stooping to such lowbrow tactics, what double standard?

So I'm walking to class yesterday in Rutgers minding my own business and whistling a nice tune. Suddenly, this Chinese girl says "Excuse me, you have a minute?". Being a nice guy and assuming she needs info or something I say "sure". She then starts "I was wondering, are you Christian?". "Crap" I said to myself. I knew where this is going. But, once again, being a nice guy, I said "No, I'm Hindu." This sparked a eulogy from this girl about how Christ said that worshipping him is the only way to reach god and how Christ's message is so great and awesome. She went ON and ON about how all of Christ's prophecies came true and about how all people should worship God through the church and Christ. I didn't really feel like going to class on time so I made the mistake of starting an argument with her about the veracity of the Bible and why she feels the need to make everybody come to her church. But she just kept going ON and ON about how worshipping through Christ will give me a great sense of peace and hapiness and crap. Long story short, she asked me my name and phone number (both of which I gave her were completely fake) and she gave me a little info sheet which I chucked in the garbage 10 seconds later. Utter waste of 45 minutes.

I HATE Campus Crusade and all those other religious people (not just Christian) who feel the need to try and make you convert. These are the types of people that give their respective religions a bad name. Christianity I think is the worst of these religions cause their members are the most active on my campus as far as trying to "recruit" people. If you know anybody who's in one of these groups PLEASE PLEASE, give them a swift kick in the nuts. If they're female, just kick em in the @$$. If any of the aforementioned groups are listening:I hate you people with a passion. YOU make my life less happy. You idiots just can't learn to live and let live.

I am Christian and I understand your discomfort. She was just wanting to share something good in her life, thats all. However, unfortunately, her pastor or church has equipped her to misrepresent.

She should have just introduced herself, asked a couple of questions and gave you some contact information. Crusades are not the way of Christ.

You bring people closer to God by example, patience and love... so many "Christians" do not realize this. I am sorry you had a bad experience, do NOT let that jade your perception of others.

They're relentless. I was part of CCC but I'm not a Christian any more partly because of them. If you read between the line, their message to you is essentially "Believe in God or you'll end up in hell". It's funny how some use scare tactics and persistence to convert people rather than with logcal reasoning or letting people believe on their own terms.

This is something a little more than an apple pie, this is your faith. I'm not trying to knock your pie, but I'm just trying to help. There are a lot of different cook books (book, like the Bible, etc.) and I'm just letting you know about mine. Don't feel that you need to change something about your pie one way or the next, you can simply say, "I like mine the way it is."

I don't know much about you, so I can't say too much, but I'll pray for you and hope that you'll be alright with your life and find some peace in God. I'm not trying to push you, but I will pray for you. Don't think of me as weird or anything else but another person sent here to help spread the word and His love. Thanks for your time, God Bless.

I don't hate Christians. I just hate those few shmucks who assume it's their goal in life to convert everybody. I have a small problem with missionaries too... but I hear at least they HELP people in 3rd world countries survive (get food, build shelters etc.). People like Campus Crusade contribute absolutely nothing good to society.
