All? no... Most? yes. It's a genetic adaptation, one which is thankfully losing its strength now that it's no longer needed.

Just let them be. Tell them you aren't interested and go on your way.

No matter what, someone is going to want to change some aspect of you. Lots of people want to change others. Some may not like your religion, some may not like the music you listen to, some may not like your sexual preference. Sure, it's annoying. I'm a Christian and these people annoy me. I get yelled at by some Christians for saying that everyone should be left to their own lives.

Don't let them get to you. Just ignore them or explain that you aren't interested.

Now now, Gurck. Sometimes the 'something Greater' is science, a better (more successful) version of themselves, or even just a hot babe. I know the study you are referring to and that's not what I'm talking about. What I am talking about is a motivation in almost everyone. The motivation to reach for more than what is currently available within or without. It doesn't matter if it is spiritual, material, or intellectual, because that is shaped by the environment we grew up in. And sometimes, if we hated the environment we grew up in, we reach for something as different as possible. "Religion" is just a construct and can be anything, including atheism, humanism, etc.

I really don?t think any religion is ?Correct? all the gods, Buddha, God, Confuses, the hold spirit, I think its not WHAT you believe, its That you believe, to have faith in something is in itself a good concept. If you want to believe in Buddha that?s you prerogative, I am not telling you that you should believe in god so don?t tell me to believe in Buddha. The problem lies in the fact that (Especially the Christians) every on thinks they have the absolute truth, and that everyone else should believe in what they believe in, even though again especially in the Christian faith they teach religious tolerance. But they insist on pushing their faith onto someone else. Tell someone about it if they want to listen, but taking up your time when you don?t want to hear it is something totally different. I believe in God and Jesus as my Savior, but unless you want to hear it I am not going to try and push that onto you. If anything that?s going to push you further away from it because your just going to get annoyed by my talking!

What is wrong with Hinduism is (from her perspective) that it is not Christianity. If this is your gripe, it seems doubly foolish as griping about the time you voluntarily wasted. There some 3 billion practicioners of Islam and Christianity, and the vast majority of them believe that you are going to some form of "hell" for your beliefs.

You're going to give yourself a complex if you worry about the feelings of 3 billion people.

Be happy, secure, and at peace in your own religion. Don't sweat everyone else.

Care to elaborate on what you disagree with?

I will... It is typical AT religion bashing. Need the eyes roll more?

That last sentence is laughable. There are thousands of faith based groups that do more good with less resources (or more) than many secular groups that only give when they can get there name on it. "...It is more blessed to give than to recieve." Acts 20:35

<puts on the flame suit> :)

go ahead and do your worst I'll let you have the last word HEATHENS! j/k of course

I was thinking that someone going to Rutgers would use better sentence structure. But, that's just my opinion.

A lof of these people don't see it any differently than is they were pushing someone from the path of an oncoming train. They don't really care if you get offended because they're pushing you. In fact, they're expecting a lot of people to take offense, particularly if they're unaware of the train.

They really think they're saving your soul. If you saw someone about to be hit by a car, would you carry on, minding your own business, or would you try to help? That's all they're trying to do, regardless of whether you perceive the "danger" the same way you do. And I'll readily agree that a lot of them do it wrong. But getting indignant about it isn't going to change anything from their perspective. They'll just see it as someone they tried to save rejecting the method, much like somebody throwing a fit that they got pushed out of the way of an oncoming vehicle (because they got pushed and didn't move of their own accord, and it's rude to push people, we learned that in kindergarten). And you saying, "I'm sorry, but I don't think your way is the best way" to them is just you running back into the middle of the street or onto the oncoming tracks and saying, "How come you're right and I'm wrong?" You really think they're going to stand there and watch just because you seem convinced that you're not in any danger? Not as long as they hold the beliefs they do. The only way you're going to be able to stop these radicals is to absolutely convince them that they've made up all these dangers that they're trying to protect you from out of the kindness of their own heart, because as arrogant as it sounds, they believe you're ignorant of it, and in most cases, I think it's genuine concern, however misguided you think it might be.

its gonna be funny, when one day all you relativistic people are going to be dead, standing before the pearly gates (or whatever) St. Peter is there, says, pick one
all the religions of the world are there, you pick one, and suffer the consequenses of not following it ;) wouldn't that suck?

j/k you all could prolly guess where my postition is (DUH)

its truly, ammusing to see how many people out there really can't see past there own hatred of someone who challenges what you belive, if its worth beliving, shouldn't it be true?
shouldn't it stand up to the utmost scrutiny?
woulnd't you be JOYFUL to tell other people about this new wonderful thing you've found?
OF COURSE NOT, i wanna hide in my hole, beliveing my made up religion(in some cases) and hate on everyone else out there who "might" know better,
they all hate you, nobodys trying to strengthen your ideals,
were all out to convert you because theres strength in holding the masses,
and, certainly nobody is trying to do you a favor, becuase there NOT willing to stick there neck out there, and have some courage.

OP, people of like mind are the (mental) reason people are afraid to openly talk about religion etc.
it takes guts to question other peoples most personal beliefs, not to post about it and bash them behind there back online.

Dang dude... She's not getting anything special out of talking to you. She genuinely cares about your salvation and wants you to hear about Christ. So, you've heard about Him now and the choice is up to you, that's that. I don't know why you hate CCC folk - all they do is care. :Q

No, they've rationalized fulfilling the genetic instinct many people have for power & control over others by claiming they're only trying to help. What's truly sad is most genuinely believe this.

whats sad is those that think they have it all figured out and lump all those of a certain persuasion together. your statement could apply to any and all religions or causes.

whats truly sad is those that claim to know why people do what they do while having no greater knowledge than anyone else.

Its more like, if you want to join you can, if you want to leave you can, if you want to include aspects of other religions in it you can.... At least thats what I as a Hindu believes... other Hindus probably believe differently, but thats ok too... doesn't bother me in the least...

And if you don't want to believe in god... that too is ok... no problemo...

Think about it this way, Hunduism is philosophy and not a religion per say.... if has flaws and thats perfectly normal... just like people no... ;)
