being awake at 2 a.m. is the perfect time to plot revenge/evil and general dastardliness.

I envy you that you can still be awake at that time.

Do you exercise? If not, try doing some light exercise at night.

Do you eat crappy food? If so, try eating better food for dinner.

Do you drink caffeine? If so, stop drinking it after lunch.

Do you drink alcohol? If so, try to not drink for a week. This may seem counterproductive because alcohol relaxes you and makes you sleepy, but give it a week and you'll find that you fall asleep easier and wake up feeling much more rested.

An hour before bed, stop looking at a screen (no tv, computer, or phone). Do something like reading a book.

An hour before bed, start dimming the lights. Turn the room lights off. Use a minimal number of lamps.

Read a book, then u gonna be sleepy and gradually fall asleep even forget to turn off the light. I've tried, it works every time.

You ever done a sleep study Shorty? If it's a chronic problem, they may be able to help.

In my experience (having had severe sleeping problems my entire life, up until the last few years, and having had a lot of friends with similar problems), it's been one of 3 problems:

1. Diet & exercise (and bedtime)
2. Sleep apnea (see #1)
3. An actual sleeping disorder

I'll cut to the chase: most people don't want to do what it takes to fix the problem, because it requires changing a core life habit. Poor diet (ex. too much sugar, eating right before bed which in turns gives you energy, etc.) and lack of exercise (excess of energy at the end of the day when you get your second wind) are the root causes. But very few people are willing to change what they eat, when they eat, and exercise on a daily basis. And also what time they go to bed, which is important for most people's bodies.

When you bring that up to people who have sleeping problems, the immediate reaction is slush-brain mode - "yeaaaaah no, not gonna change any of that" with a defeated grin. Self-sabotage is a difficult issue to overcome! So, you have to really want to fix it & be willing to do what it takes. Most people aren't, which is why everyone is up late on the Internet or watching TV.

Sleep apnea is the second most common problem I've seen, but 99% of the time, the root cause is being overweight, so getting in shape will fix nearly all examples of it. In rarer cases, you need surgery to fix a physical problem, but it's almost always a self-inflicted sleeping disorder due to weight. But that goes back to #1 - people don't want to do what it takes to change. And the last one, maybe you have an actual sleeping disorder. Some people have the delayed sleep phase thing & simply do better working at night & such.

For me in particular, most of my issues stemmed from food allergies, so once I removed the foods I was allergic to from my diet, I started sleeping a lot better - no more restless leg syndrome, no more lying in bed unable to sleep all night, etc. So that kind of goes along with the diet thing - cleaning up your diet to fix your issues is the majority of it, from what I've found.

I do the opposite of what should be done to sleep well but I still manage to sleep within 1-2 hours so I can't complain.

im a horrible insomniac too. yesterday i tried so hard to go to sleep by midnight cuz i had a really busy next day, and i ended up not going to sleep at all. some people have told me not to take a shower at night, but i cant do that..

I cant NOT do that either. I don't understand how people after a day of work, school etc., can go home. Eat dinner and go to bed.
MUCH LESS HAVE SEX..... I know, everyone is different.

There was a Sopranos episode once... Tony comes home after doing "Soprano Stuff". Takes off his shirt, pants gets into bed and starts going at it with Carm..... I was like EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW LOL

You and Oblama should make a team together. He can scrub your back and you can scrub his.

Enjoy!
