My brother gave me Rainbow 6 Vegas for xmas but I saw that my videocard is not supported. Being dumb I still installed the game but the main title would noty even render. I have an x800pro. I was wondering what would be a good card that would run Rainbow 6 and hold me off until the newer DX10 cards price drop? Thanks a lot.

It is sad a new game will not even work with an X800 Pro.

X1950 Pro AGP would, I think, be the best card you can get for AGP.

The X1900XT is by far your best bang for your buck. It delivers better IQ than the corresponding Nvidia card, and better performance.

There isn't any in-game options to change SM 3.0 to SM 2.0 ?

If not then the developers are nothing more than dumb.

No I have tried, the main screen won't even render. When I first tried to start the game it would not let me becuase I don't have SM 3.0.

:confused:I would guess they would sell more games if it was made backward compatable. There have to be a lot more pc's with only 2.0 support than 3.0 support. Kinda screwing themselves, am I wrong?

They just did a quick cheap port from Xbox 360 to make some extra money off it. If ppl don't buy now they will buy a year from now when they do have a SM3.0 card. The game is VERY demanding and if it even did run on a X800 you would have to turn everything off or on low for it to even be playable.

BTW I have a X1800XT 512mb,2gb memory and a C2D@2.8 and the game has slowdowns here and there at 1440x900 with most everything on high other than shadows. Depending on what settings you prefer you might need at least a 7900GS or better. Heck I wouldn't get anything lower than a 7900GS if your serious about playing the game.

If you don't mind used this is a sweet deal on a X1800XT:

It is cheaper than a new 7900GS and is on par with a 7900GT(maybe even better in some games)

I saw a review recently on Rainbow 6 Vegas and it brought an 8800 to it's knees. I understand this game requires a lot of power to run at decent frame rates. Get the very best card you can afford.
