They changed it because of a lawsuit against Monsanto about 18 months ago. GMO foods contain possible allerginic proteins, and to avoid companies avoiding labeling by classifying 'intollerances' they are all lumped together as allergies.

The legislation started a while back, and is discussed in NOVA's "Harvest of Fear".
Ahhh! I think I remember hearing about this.

Stupid. :|

It will be bigger news if Bush loses the election. He has been very supportive of large food companies avoiding labeling, and at stalling efforts to madate allergy warnings. GMO labels will probably never happen as it would be completely pointless.

I don't think it would be pointless, and I certainly hope it happens. We have a right to know what we are eating, and I would certainly avoid GMO products if I knew which were which.

Not that I don't believe good can come out of genetic engineering, I would just like the choice.

I don't feel I'm allergic to anything, but I hate getting pollen stuck in my eyes. It is actually hazardous. I'll be driving down the road and all of a sudden I get something in my eye. No matter what I do (or don't do) it doesn't seem to go away until I take my contact lens out and flush with water. Sometimes it's so bad I can barely see the road! :Q

Same here, it really really does suck, I've started to dislike summer because of allergies :( I'm also allergic to many animals like cats, dogs, bunnies, etc. and foods. Almond shells (peels or whatever they're called?) are like poison to me, if you ever wanted to kill me all you had to do is place little almond shell in my food.

Try a teaspoon of locally grown honey once a day. Or use Claritrin, or the Longs, Walmart, Walgreens knock off.
