why do i always get the feeling that i'm going to snap the motherboard? oh yeah, there should be zif sockets for dimms and anything else with a pin count > 50

You probably need more standoff screws. You might just have one for every corner, not enough.

I have all the standoffs my board can take but I get that feeling sometimes also.

ditto what yakko said. things'd be easier if the motherboard was resting on a solid block of plastic (or anything else non-conductive). that way the motherboard won't bend when pressing down

I get that feeling too. I lost a couple of standoffs when I installed my MB and never recovered them so thats my excuse.

try putting some paper underneath. that's what my cousin did
