Was @ work last night & got a call from a local ER asking about the where-abouts of a co-worker. They usually don't tell you what's going on, but as I work in an another ER in town the nurse told me what was up...

Turns out it was about his ex-wife & daughter, ex wife was killed in a head-on collison with an evidently drunk driver (2 previous DUI's anyway) crossed the center line of a 2 lane road, daughter was pretty messed up:(

I tracked down his cell # & told him:( :( :( :(

Called him this morning, his daughter'll (16) be ok, got out of surgery @ 2am, but she watched her mom die from a broken neck before she (the daughter) was cut loose from the car:( :(

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

EDIT:

Driver of the car that drifter over the centerline (the guy with 2 previous DUI's) was pronounced dead @ the scene.

2 prior DUI's?

IMHO 1 DUI should get you a memorable time in prison, a 2nd should get you a SIGNIFICANT portion of your life.

Hope they lock that bastard up.

I agree totally, My mother was killed by a drunk driver in '69 with a .2 alcohol blood rating which was not considered drunk back then in Missouri.

Sorry to hear that...there are quite a bit of people who still drink and drive even after knowing the effects of being intoxicated.

Sorry to hear that bro. :(

In NJ they will put you in jail for up to 10 years or more if you kill someone while drunk.

If I was the girl, I would sue the drunk driver, the bar that he attended, the beer company. Hell... I would go after anyone and everyone that contributed to this guy getting behind the wheel drunk.

I can not stand people that drink and drive. There should be no excuse for this behavior. NONE!

I went to Wake Forest, the summer before my Freshman year 1996, a guy killed two students while driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
He had prior offenses and they charged him with two counts of felony-murder which in NC is a capital offense. They tried to get the death
penalty, but jury decided on life imprisonment without parole. There ought to be more convicitions along this line.

WhyTF do the drunk drivers always get to live ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Think about it, with all sentiments aside for a second... the drunk driver dies and will never again have another victim. It's too bad he lives to get other chances to do it again. :|

All drunk drivers need to go to hell... and stay there.

I'm sorry to hear that. Every time I'm around someone who's drinking and wants to drive home, I'll steal and hide their keys if I have to. It's not that I think these morons need protecting from themselves, it's the other people I feel sorry for. One of my friend's mother was killed by a drunk driver who was too stupid or too lazy to just call a taxi or get someone else to give him a ride (naturally, this moron got all of a cut on his forhead). The fact that he has to live the rest of his life knowing what he did doesn't seem to deter anyone else. God damn it people are stupid.

Isn't it true that in some states (i.e. Ohio), that drivers with a DUI are forced to use red-painted license plates? I've seen this before, and I'm pretty sure it's like that in Ohio.

That's good, but doesn't go far enough. I really think people with a DUI should have their license suspended at least 5 years. This is, of course, if they are just caught driving and haven't hurt anyone or anything.

But I am very sorry to hear about your co-worker and his family. Things like that happen too often. :( I hope his daughter can make a full recovery.

The police have the driver right? Or did he perish as well?

It will happen in time. People are getting fed up with drunk drivers. With all the info that we have about drinking and driving why does it still happen?

It's sad..
