I dunno what was going on... <windows key> + <L> locks the computer, correct? Cool. I did that last night. I forgot to do something, went back to my computer to do it, and couldn't unlock it. None of the six passwords that I use were accepted. I only use one password for my Windows login, both here and at work. None of them worked.

I called Microsoft to see if they would tell me how to get around it, but apparently I was too stupid at the time to realize that MS wouldn't just give out information on how to get in the backdoor for legal reasons.

I'm a dummy. I've been working since I got home at 4pm to restore my system. I'm going to use Norton Ghost and backup the HDD to CD's. This absolutely sucks. I can't believe what a stupid mistake I made. I'm not really sure why XP wouldn't take my password, either, but I feel like an idiot.

Thought you'd like to know.

I didn't even know the disk existed until a few hours ago, just after I started the formatting process. No, capslock wasn't on. I deal with password idiots every day at work. I'm not going to fall to my own devices.

FYI, if you set Windows to use the welcome menu screen, instead of the username/password floating box, Windows will tell you if the caps lock is on.

I might do that just for the hell of it. But, for right now, I'm going to stop bludgeoning myself to death with this crowbar. I think installing VisualStudio.NET all over again will be punishment enough :|

Sometimes the administrative password is blank. :) I know... I pressed Next once too often and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get back in my computer until I remembered I coudln't remember putting an administrative password in.

Heh...this happened to me once...I tried EVERYTHING...I got so pissed off I just smacked my keyboard a few times and luckily for me I just hit enter first and it logged in...I almost threw a party right then and there (I conveniently had chips, salsa and soda handy)

If you have your caps lock on and you place the cursor into the password field, XP will tell you you have your caps lock on :)
