I had my landlord arrested yesterday

Kinda a continuation of this thread:

After creating that thread, he came over and was yelling at my guests, so I called the cops and played a few videos of the landlord, he agreed to communicate only by written notices. It was managemable for the most part so we stayed.

Fast forward to about a week ago, I woke up to find him in my basement(He was painting a basement window). I told him that he needs to get out or I'm calling the cops. We get in a argument but he leaves. I decide its time to move. Then yesterday he put up a few signs that say "Tenant parking only, all other cars will be towed at owners exspense." My roomate calls and lets me know, so I plan on talking to him about it when I get home. I get home, and he is in my house. I tell him again, that he can't keep coming in my house, and that I'm going to have to call the police again.

Two sqaud cars come, I explain the situation to them. They ask if I want to file a complaint and press charges, I told them yes. And away the landlord went with a unlawful tresspass, and harrassment charges.

Thankfully I've had a new job for about two months and have been able to save 2k, plenty to cover my moving, deposit, and rent of a new place. Its definitely time to go.

Good luck getting your damage deposit back after having him arrested; not that he didn't deserve to be hauled away in handcuffs.

Yikes, sounds like a creep/extreme sort of guy.

I have a roommate that wants to work for my housing complex (heaven help us all if he is employed). He is just that sort of insane. If you don't do things his way or disagree with him, he has the stupid notion that he can just evict you. (BTW, he believes some MESSED UP things)

My wife had a similar sort of story back in college. Rented this place in Chicago, 3 levels, random person on top level, we had the ground level, landlord had basement. To make a long story short, he was routinely smoking marijuana in the basement to the extent you could almost get high from the fumes seeping through in our apartment. He did cockfighting in the back yard. Would come in unannounced without his shirt on. Would yell and be verbally abusive. Called the cops on him a few times, both times they said there was nothing they could do (renters have far fewer rights if the landlord occupies the building). Anyway we decided to just up and leave one morning.

Fast forward a few months, we were at a place maybe a half mile away. I walk by the old apartment and see may 10 police officers fully decked out, some big guns, body armor, (think SWAT) with the door broken down. It was rather satisfying. Never did find out exactly what they were there for. But I'm 100% sure its because of the landlord.

Good work; move out quickly while he's in jail or he'll come back and trash your place. Make sure to take pictures of your place after you move out (showing that there was no damage, etc.) in case he tries to pull some shenanegans in court.

Interesting, tell us what messed up things he believes in please.
